118.6 - up one pound since yesterday. Totally deserved as I ate all the foods yesterday starting with 1/2 donut, including onion dip and guacamole, a hot dog for dinner, then birthday cake for desert (one of the friends and DH have birthdays in the next week).

DD is doing well learning how to maneuver up and down from the couch/bed without disturbing anything too much. She said she is quite comfortable when lying down and not moving around.

The beach was beautiful yesterday and dinner was satisfying (as mentioned above). We came back an hour or so earlier than the rest along with the 3 teenage girls which helped in the showering. The teenagers used the indoor shower and DH and I used the outdoor one, so they were all clear by the time the other 5 house occupants got home.

The 4 dogs get along well, but we found out that mulch in the beds near the new deck is not a good idea with the bigger dogs. They keep running through it and the youngest dog keeps digging in it. As a result there is constantly mulch all over the walkways and in the deck. Oh and when you sweep it, two of the dogs think it is a game and try to catch the stuff in their mouths. But it is fun to see the 4 of them romping around the fenced in yard.

Today is likely another beach day with the crowd, then most of them are leaving late today, probably after dinner. DH's most local DD and her husband are leaving either tomorrow or Tuesday.

We are supposed to go Bar Harbor next weekend for DH's birthday but DH is worried that the funeral for his friend's wife will be then. Since the arrangements aren't finalized yet, I suspect they will be after that but who knows. The wife died of Leukemia but they didn't know she had it until a day or so before she died. Apparently she had been feeling run-down and was losing weight so finally went to the doctor after putting it off for a long time. The doctor sent her to the hospital for tests and she died with a couple of days. So sad for her husband and family but maybe it saved her from some anguishing days?

Time to get ready for the usual Sunday bus to breakfast at 7:30. No one else is up here (just DH, Justice and me). Have a safe Sunday!

202.0 this morning. Sort of undeserved, but I will take it! To make it an even more glorious morning, I got Wordle in 2 tries! Whoop!

Grizz is in his place at my shoulders. I do like having a cuddle pup.

Got the massage yesterday. It was PAINFUL at times! Just on the cusp of intolerable. LOL! I didn't realize how knotted up my shoulder blade area was. Must be from all the driving. He also dug into my IT band and I thought I might fly off the table. It was a needed massage.

It's going to be a hot one here. Close to 100. Yay for the AC!

I'm really getting into this retirement thing... I like not going to work and I certainly don't miss the stress. Even though it is Sunday, I like that I could have forced myself to stay in bed and try to get a little extra sleep as I did today any day of the week now. There is a sort of liberation in being retired. I'm feeling more energetic and "young", too! So... LIFE IS GOOD!

Liz, did your DD have a hysterectomy? I seem to remember that was an option for her. Having been on the road so much lately, I haven't always kept up on the posts and have missed some details. (Paula's house sale and move for example!)

Hope Diamond D is having a lucky travel day and will make it to her island!

Off to the Sierra foothills for the day to accompany Auntie Kathryn to drop off one of her dogs with a dog show handler. The show to which we are going has the most awesome Ice Cream Bar vendor. I'm saving calories today for that!

Stay cool today!

Yay you @ 202. Grizz sounds like such a love!

Yes DD had a hysterectomy on Friday morning. Hopefully recovery will be uneventful.

Greetings all

It is overcast today but calm. In a little while studio buddy and I are going to the art museum for a couple of particular shows. The museum is an old Carnnigee Library building and is a work of art itself. After that we will likely go to this one bar for burgers. So I will skip the gym but likely get in a few steps. Studio buddy is still building her house but hopeful of getting in to it by the year end. It has only been five years...

So Peps you have a dog stole. Mine like to do that too- get on my shoulder and lurk like a gargoyle. Isn't retirement fun?? Do whatever you want on whatever day you want and don't feel like you have to ration your weekends. Ouchie massage?

Liz sorry about the wife of DH friend. My sil died the same way - felt crappy and we dragged her to the hospital only to find she was full of cancer. Died a day later. Glad your DD is doing well. And yeah, whatever is in the yard that the dogs might make a mess of will indeed happen. Out here it is redwood bark and needles.

Another dinner of chili tonight. This has been an especially good batch I must say.

Last night was art night up at the gallery. We had big sales and I sold 5 things. Gotta get busy. Our studio is being affected by tariffs now. We buy raw materials to make glazes - like silica and feldspar and many are imported. Same materials that are used to make glass and other refractory products. Some are completely unavailable now. We may have to redesign our glazes or even firing temperatures. A big deal.

Yooo Hoo DD! on the ferry?

Disturbing that the tariffs don't just raise cost but affect the supply as well.

I hope the museum visit was enjoyable. Five years? What could take that long? I couldn't live with any project that lengthy.

123.7, up another pound! I?m almost back to my low goal of 125. Just in time for surgery. I can certainly tell the meds are not on board anymore!

DS2 is here. DC1 visiting as usual on their day off and DSD here but running all weekend with bridal shower and bachelorette party activities for her good friend. That should all end tonight and then she will have a few days to just hang with us!

Went to church this morning and gave just been hanging with the kids today. Will take DS2s BFF to the botanical gardens for a photo shoot today.

Went in the hot tub last night and plan some patio time in the next few days. So little time to enjoy our current backyard paradise!

Hope you have a great beach day Liz! Fun that all the dogs are enjoying each other!

Love that you have a snuggler in Grizz Peps. That?s what I love the best about having lap dogs. Enjoy the ice cream! I sure have been!

Diane, crazy about the tariffs affecting your glazes. I?m sure so many more people than the average person realizes are affected by them!

Interesting that you can feel that the meds aren't on board anymore. Do you plan to start them up again at some point? I almost can't remember what it was like without them and am afraid to be without any in my system.

You will make another paradise in Florida!

I will start the meds back up again after surgery as long as I am at least 125 lbs. The weight has been coming on fast this last week. I know it is best going into surgery and during healing but kind of scary seeing the scale rise, especially so fast!

I totally understand, but would guess it won't all stay.
