116 - not much time to eat with the traveling yesterday
Today is the 21st missed birthday for Elise. She would have been 53. The picture on FB was on her 21st birthday.
One of DS's childhood friends had her first child (a daughter) at 18. She went on to complete nursing school, got married and has a handsome husband, 3 sons in addition, and a lovely home. She put a contemplative post on FB recently on her daughter's 16th birthday about how she never envisioned that her life would go so well in the future at the time her daughter was born. I have been so happy to see her progress through life. One of the benefits of FB.
Today we will have a chillier Justice walk (it is 46 out) though the temperature should warm to about 70 today. DH is golfing today and I will do some errands. Not sure what else or what dinner entails but it is a good thing to have a down day as we make the 2+ hour trip each way to Central Mass for SIL's birthday party tomorrow.
Have a fulfilling Friday!
Happy birthday to Elise, and to you, because a newborn Mom was born on this date too.
It's a funny thing this long term grief. BFFs oldest son left us when he was 13. He would be 39 now. We talk about him a lot, and laugh, but sometimes the grief sideswipes me, so i can't even imagine how it would be if it were my child. When our nephew , his younger brother got married a couple of years ago, I cried and cried thinking about how his brother wouldn't be there to be the best man. It caught me by surprise, because I thought the tears for him were all spent, but evidently not.
I did find some nice tops yesterday, and 2 pairs of crop pants in colors I already own. But why would I buy them? Because the current ones are looking shabby, but they go with so many things I already own. Happy to have nice replacements for them from Ann Taylor Loft at a very good price.
It was 90 yesterday! DH and I went to the beach counter service place at one of the big lskes in Minnesota. I am a cheap date, DH ordered a meal, and I had him add on beans and rice for me for $2.50. They have a lovely plaza where you can watch the sun set and the sailboats come in.
Today we are going to have a picnic at another beach. BFF has a rare day off, so we will meet her there. Could be 90 also today! I'm loving it. Next week will be more in line with average temps. That will be okay too.
Crazy weather! The Northeast is getting a bit of that this weekend. I am sitting on the deck but have to be under the umbrella because the sun is too hot. It is supposed to be 80 in Central Mass where we spend the day tomorrow.
Long-term grief is all about all the things they missed out on. Being a parent, attending their sibling's wedding, celebrating birthdays and holidays, and so on. So many times when you just think Elise should have been here or should have had that experience or I wonder what Elise would think.

Exactly. Sometimes I see a young woman with strawberry blonde hair and a couple of kids in tow and wonder if that is what Elise would look like now. I think she is younger than 53 in my mind - more like mid-thirties, maybe because she passed away at 32?

Greetings all
Big sun today. I am sitting here air drying my hair. Plenty of chores to be done but first on the list is to go to the gym and walk. Somehow if it is not 1or 2 on the list it does not get done. So first it is. DH did the romeo lunch today and brought home burger and fries so dinner is decided. Gallery banking to be done but I think I will wait since I work there again tomorrow afternoon. I may have mentioned that our treasurer's son had an aneurism, stroke and fell and broke his leg badly so she is absent for awhile and we will need to cover for her.
We had frozen gluten free burritos last night. Pretty good. I did not realize they were gluten free when I bought them. I think the tortilla (or tortilla-like thing) was made from rice flour but hard to tell.
And thanks for sharing Elise' birthday with us Liz. A mixed day for you. My lost young one was my 17 year old nephew. His birthday was Christmas so that day is a mixed bag. Nice to see your son's friend went on to have a good life. Facebook is indeed great for that purpose. Amazing what comes up. However I just got a friend request from someone that I know is deceased. Clean up needed Facebook.
Anyway, enjoy the SIL birthday Liz.
DD you are so lucky to have Bff around as someone who goes way back in your history. Very grounding. Sounds like she has not always had an easy life so she is lucky to have you and vice versa.
Yoo Peps and CC? Where are you all?
Sending house vibes Paula.
Time to face the treadmill.

Yes, exercising before other activities seems to be working better for me too. When I worked and managed to have an exercise routine, I had to go straight from work. If I stopped at home, I was unlikely to make it to the gym at all.
When I left on my trip, it was still summer break and Planet Fitness was full of teenagers in the morning. This week it has been nice and quiet : ) I liked seeing all the kids doing aomething so good for their physical and mental health, but not gonna lie, I'm not minding all the open machines when I want them.
I can't sign up for exercise classes late in the day because I would never make it there. Has to be early before I get involved in anything else. The long Justice walk is the same though on an odd day like Thursday when we traveled we will do it late in the afternoon because he really needs it (probably us too).

Had a surprise house viewing today. Realtor texted this morning that one of her clients might be interested in our house and could they look at it in the next several days. Shortly after she texted again and said how about 3:15 today. DH and I cleaned the house up real quick and the family came and saw the house. If they do put in an offer we have to wait for the first one to fall through or for them to release us from the contract. I guess the family liked the house but we're going to think about it! We shall see! Went out for Mexican for dinner. I had the Mexican shrimp ****tail, always good.
Happy heavenly birthday Elise! Grief is an odd thing. I had a recurring dream of Ben coming back but I was already married to Kevin. Finally stopped having the dream, then last night it returned! Not sure why!
DD, your picnic lunch looked great! You know I like my charcuterie! Glad BFF was able to join you.
Diane, when DH brings home dinner from his Romeo lunches, does he just order extra or are you all eating 3 meals off of one order? Always wonder that when you say he brought food home from lunch. Even though DH and I are not big eaters, I doubt we could get 3 meals out of one, 2 most likely but not 3. Hope the treadmill walking went easy for you today!
Now that is an odd dream. Is it disconcerting in the dream itself? I can't imagine what a dream like that would be like. I do know that my DHs would have liked each other's personalities but I don't think deceased DH would like me being with someone else.
