118.4 - up a lot from when we left for Massachusetts but I am not going to worry about it. I will just eat the usual stuff.

We did not get to practice bocce yesterday as the courts were too wet. It rained like crazy while we were away: More than a foot of rain in a week. It was extremely dry here during the summer so the rain now is payback for that. Supposedly we are going to get into a drier mode now though.

The travel was fairly smooth though the uber to the airport cost almost twice as much as the rental car would have. The dance last night was fun. I even got DH to dance a couple of times.

Today after the usual Justice walk, I have water aerobics, then a consultation at a dermatologist. This is for cosmetic purposes to see what can be done with my face to make it look better. I never wore much makeup on my skin until a few years ago but now feel bare without foundation (which I have to forego of course for the consultation today). We round out the day with a bocce game. I also need to think about what to have for dinner. We went out every night when up north and were out last night and will be tomorrow night, so I prefer to do something at home.

Have a winning Wednesday!

Yes, going out all the time can be fun, but having a day or two at home to reset also feels good. My DH is not a big fan of dancing either. He will if everybody else is or our kids are on the dance floor . I've noticed that a lot of people, for example in my family, dance more now than they did when they were younger, DH included. Maybe as you age you take to heart the adage, dance like no one's watching.

My summer birds have left, but if I spend some time by the window, I'm starting to see more of the winter birds, like blue jays and chikadees. The blue jays are starting to make a comeback. So many of them died from West Nile Virus a few years ago, along with some of the crows.

A frost in parts of Minnesota yesterday, but not here. Current forecast is for a frost around October 20, which is when we'll be in Galveston. All plants that will winter inside the house are safely tucked into new pots with new soil. I divided some, so now I'm trying to decide where to put everyone. Currently scattered about the house. I might need more plant stands : )

The Aldi Schnitzels were decent, but not something I would have on frequent repeat. I thought it was something you put on a cookie sheet and bake, but the directions called for frying in oil. They were nicely crisp. We have 3 left and the next time we make them we will spray them with olive oil and try air frying instead.

A few things already added to the schedule since yesterday. My niece had a cancellation for haircut and color on Friday, so I'm going to take that spot. A friend had tickets she couldn't use to a concert featuring the music of Bobby Vee, and offered them to us, so that's Saturday evening. BFF's birthday is the 17th, so I offered to have a get together next week, she is deciding on Thursday of Friday evening. My brother was going to have to drive to Minneapolis area to pick up some tax papers of my parents. I told him I already live here, so I'd be happy to do it. My Mom's birthday is the week after we get back from Galveston, so brother and I planned a birthday get together on the 29th. I'll bring chicken enchiladas, his wife will make the cake.

Per the discussion of apples: Honeycrisp all the way! They were developed by the University of Minnesota agriculture program in an orchard on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. There are some other sweet apples i like too, like Fuji, but Honeycrisp are my go to. 2 weeks ago we bought a big bag at the farmer's market. So good.

I did a pretty good workout (for me) yesterday, and today I'm sore, so I didn't go this morning. I'll do a tai chi video to stretch today, and work on balance. Weight holds steady. Protein was good yesterday. I'll see if I can replicate that today.

Blue jays are pretty but so big compared to a lot of birds. When I had birdfeeders they would muscle in and kick all the little birds out.

Good to know about Honeycrisp since we do see them here. They may not be as good as there though. Once in a while they have McIntosh but they are a poor substitute for the ones we got at the orchard up north.

Oh yeah, those blue jays are bullies, but they sure are pretty.

Greetings all

Early check in on this overcast day. The house is getting cleaned so I can't get on with my busy schedule until that is finished. The busy schedule includes washing hair, making eggs, going to gym and then to the studio. DH decided that today is the day we should go for flu and covid shots. I think I will wait a day or two. He can go by himself if he thinks today is the perfect day. Our locally owned small pharmacy is getting super busy since the Rite Aide closed down and the CVS sucks. People think the local pharmacy should take over the rite aide building but I think that place has bad karma. And the way the aisles were arranged was very bad feng-shui.

Yes DD, honey crisp are the best apples - at least of those widely available. The liberty are quite good and we used to get this kind called rubenstar at the orchard. Deep red, super white inside and very good. It is the time for apples - a fall good thing. Enjoy the haircut and the other chores that become almost a joy when you can do them on a weekday with no pressure.

Liz too bad bocci got canceled but sounds like you had enough fun for one day. Yeah eating out too much gets weird. We do the opposite. I need to get take out. Or at least stop at the hippie deli. Hope your niece is doing well.

The neighborhood is full of halloween stuff. Across the street is almost an entire zoo of skeletons. Reminds me I need to start organizing our halloween party which mainly consist of moving junk.

So tomorrow is my annual fog a mirror for medicare wellness check. Got the lab results already. Moslty good. Last time I was there I had talked to doctor about weight loss meds and he said yeah go ahead and he said he would write me one or I could do an on line thing - whatever worked. Seems like I kept putting it off until I completed one project or another project. But last I checked there is no law saying I can't do more than one project at a time. Maybe after tomorrow I will get in gear. I hate this extra weight and it really gets in my way. Note to self :JFDI

Maybe get the prescription from your doctor and keep it in your back pocket. If needles bother you, apparently you can get the real deal auto inject pens from Costco Pharmacy for $500 a month. It's cheaper from compounding pharmacies if you are comfortable drawing up the meds into a syringe and injecting yourself. Seems like that is what almost everyone else in our group is doing. Potentially, there are side effects. I had some constipation early on, although explosive diarrhea gets a lot more press, my doctor said in her practice, constipation was much more frequent. I can say I have no side effects of any kind at this point, except decreased thoughts about food (but not as suppressed as before) and a sense of being done eating sooner than I would have without the medication.

I agree on the honey crisp apples! Granny Smith used to be my favorite but now Honey Crisp is, which is odd since one us very sour and the other quite sweet but both a crisp!

123.7. Had my last follow up with my plastic surgeon today. They are very with my healing and results and so am I. I commented last night to DH that my belly and legs looked more like a 20 year olds vs. a 60 year olds (minus my vericose veins) and he said I was being vain. Grrrrrr. Guess I won't share those thoughts with him again! I know you all understand! Not vain, just excited about my results and more of a compliment to my PS than anything I've done! Now when I get my 4 pack back from doing ab exercises, I'll brag all I want! Lol!

Pictures for listing our house will be taken tomorrow. May even have an open house over the weekend. Unfortunately we have 3 of the 4 kids visiting this weekend too!

Your surgeon did the cutting, but you are the one who came into surgery with a good level of physical fitness and weight loss, so you should brag on it. Congratulations on working hard to get where you are!!!
