118.2

Good day yesterday whi*****luded a bocce tournament in mid afternoon. Those younger kids can get the hang of a game like that pretty quickly. We played for almost 2 hours. The younger teen was still a bit sour because she wasn't as good as her brother but there was still good interaction.

I think today is the beach club again because it is the last really warm day. Tomorrow may be less sunny and the high Friday is projected to be 70.

DH's childhood friend arrives today to spend Thanksgiving with us tomorrow. He will stay in the hotel across the street from our community. Good thing as he goes to bed really early and gets up at about 4 in the morning. He tends to bang around like a bull in a china shop when he gets up. He also starts making phone calls at about 7 am, talking loudly and having it on speakerphone. I actually think he may be a bit hard of hearing because he is so loud and has his phone volume way up, but could be that is just him.

This morning we will do our Justice walk, then I have to get my first shots of Evenity, the drug I am on for osteoporosis for the next year.

Have a willing Wednesday!

202.7 - only 0.3 above my pre Disney weight. Whoo hoo!

Liz, i would KILL for some 70 degree weather. It's sunny, breezy and 46 degrees here. I think our forecast high is 56.

Funny how weight can change perceptions. When I weighed 280 I would NEVER go out in joggers or athletic attire. I felt like I looked like a big slob and people would think, "Oh that's all he can fit into..." Now I wear my joggers out and about and think I look great! LOL! Plus, they are pretty comfy and transition at home into lounge wear! A total win win for this chilly weather.

I am glad we are not having company. I like doing Christmas, but our house is just too small for a Thanksgiving feast. Ron's sisters' houses fit the bill. Both have really big homes designed for entertaining.

Off to see dad today for his nurse practitioner appointment. I invited him out for lunch. I hope he's having the same good day he was having yesterday. If he's out of it, I won't mention our planned luncheon. The nice thing is he doesn't remember those details from one day to the next, so I can assess his mental state and adjust as necessary and he's none the wiser. I do love how happy he is to see me every time I go visit.

Not much else from here today. Oh, except, I'm on puppy watch with Kathryn. Her little dog is in pre labor, so I'm anticipating puppies by this evening. So, I'll be playing mid wife for little Razz and helping bring three new babies into the world. I do love brand spanking new puppies!

Today feels like a winning Wednesday to me. I hope it is for y'all, too!

I'm with you on the joggers! I often run errands after i work out, and i feel comfortable in my joggers and quarter zip athletic shirt. I didn't work out today, but I am wearing joggers and a sweater. I need more joggers! I used to wear leggings to work out, but these feel much more comfortable in general.

I wish I could wear leggings and a sweatshirt (or tank in Florida) all day. I never used to go out in them but now I will go out and do errands in them and don't care.

I envy your exposure to puppies. So sweet, though I likely will never have one again. Even if I decide to get another dog when Justice passes (hopefully not for a few years yet), I would probably adopt a younger adult dog again. It worked out so well with Justice. DSD and husband do have a new puppy (about 10 weeks now), so we will meet her in a couple of weeks when we go north for Christmas. I suspect Justice will not be thrilled with her as he has just gotten to tolerate their older dog because she is old enough to be past puppy behavior. So funny to see videos and pictures of the puppy pulling on the older one's ears (and the older one looking like she is rolling her eyes).

I feel for the teenaged granddaughter. Not always easy to be that age. Not always easy for the rest of the family too while they wait for the adolescent hormonal storm to pass. In our family, DS was the more dramatic one who grunted one word responses or answered many queries with I don't know. He's so pleasant now : )

Woke up to about 2 inches of snow and a bone chilling wind. DD is supossed to land at 8:30pm. So far her plane is still listed as on time. The snow stopped at the airport around 7am this morning, so all the runways are open again, and it's business as usual. But if there are dealys in the morning, it can throw off the schedule for the whole day. Even if she's late though, I'm sure she will get here sometime tonight.

My Mom texted me this morning and said she could not make it to Thanksgiving. I've been half expecting that, since she continues to be weak after her hospital visit. I called DB because he saw her yesterday just to confirm, and he said looking at her yesterday, he didn't think she would have the energy. So change of plans, DH, DD and I will bring them a meal late morning/early afternoon, and then we will arrive late to my Uncle's house after we spent a few hours with my parents. Prior to knowing this, I just made a pan of stuffed pasta shells for tonight's dinner. We'll pivot, and I'll bring that. We have the huge Costco pie (minus two pieces I had one for supper, and one for breakfast) I am making green bean casserole, and vegetarian stuffing for the crowd, but I'll bring some for my parents too. It's an unusual combination of food, but they will have a dinner.

There's a lot of feelings about Thanksgiving now. This will be the last one at my Uncle's house. My aunt and uncle are closing on a condo in an independent living community next week. The end of an era and so much family history. I was newly engaged when we started this tradition, and brought my fiancee and then new husband and my babies too, who were entertained by my young cousins (20 years younger than me). Then the young cousins grew up, and brought their new spouses and babies. And one of those babies is off to college next year! The youngest baby is now 3. She will be our last one at this particular gathering. There have been sledding parties, and talent shows, and walks around the lake. I never made it to the grown up table because my Mom and her siblings have lived such long lives, for which I have been so grateful. Only my beautiful grandparents have left us in all this time.

A few more things I need to do before DD arrives, like get the sheets for her bed out of the dryer and back onto her bed! While we saw her in September, she hasn't been "home" since June, and having either of them "home" just hits differently.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve, I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow in whatever form it takes.

What a lovely tradition you have had and how lucky that it spanned so many years. Next year will be a tough change. Nice that you could quickly pivot and provide a visit and food for your parents. Your Mom does sound like she is getting terribly tired.

Greetings all

Sunny again. It is so lovely. I might need to go drive Scenic Drive as it is spectacular on a sunny day. But first I need to excavate the kitchen cupboards to find the hand mixer. My mother always used one to whip potatoes instead of a hand masher so that is the way I do it. And in the same kind of copper bottom pan.

I did the gym today which always makes me feel better - in spite of another old lady I see there who walks much faster than me and on an incline. Oh well. After that I stopped at the grocery (can't believe I did not plan better to avoid it on this day) but it is the hippy dippy grocery so it was not too bad. Got some deli roasted turkey to make soup tonight - kind of like DD's but with sour cream. I also got parmesan cheese to make cheese crisps.

Liz the bocce ball sounds fun. A good family thing. Funny about DH's loud friend. Nice that he can be there. Good luck with the shots.

DD enjoy your day tomorrow even with all the running around. Yes, bitter sweet with it being the last time at the uncle. Kid's table! Hoping DD arrives on time and that the snow is not much more since you guys have to drive around. What great family traditions you describe. Like a Grandma Moses holiday painting.

My "jogger" pants are just land's end knit ones. I don't like a tight ankle probably because mine are chunky. Knit pants with an elastic waist that my friend used to call "roundy round" pants. And yes I am still getting old lady bra adds by the ton.

Peps you are no doubt thankful that your dad knows you and is glad to see you. Good idea to play it by ear and see if he is up for an outing.

The gallery had big sales today. One was a pretty expensive painting by this one guy who is poor as a church mouse and a kind and lovely person. Good to see him get a big sale.

Life is good. I can't think of anything to ***** about...

Oh, that is a nice Thanksgiving story about the big sale. Nice when good things happen to good people.

I love that that man had a big sale today. Sounds like he needs it.

Soup? You may inspire me again the next time I cook like you did with the pot roast. Though who knows when I will cook as we only have 2 days between guests and one of them we are spending with friends.
