120.2 - down .4 - getting there
So DD's heating problem had me checking the WiFi thermostat in Florida (it is a Sensi btw - I really like it). I can remotely change the temperature or set a programmed schedule. I can also look at recent usage by day or at monthly usage over time. This is the first time we have been away that I set it for a minimum heating level vs a maximum cooling level. Luckily it hasn't had to kick in the last few days (I have it set at a minimum of 55). I felt like we used a ton of heating last month so I compared January of 2025 vs 2026. Interesting that we used a lot more AC this year, but about the same amount of heat:
Hoping the trend when we get home is getting warmer. Yesterday was warm and sunny in the morning so we had a good Justice walk and sat out in the sun (the dogs giving each other the stink eye LOL). At around 11:30 am the wind and clouds took over and it was pouring at noon. So we read most of the afternoon until we left at 4 for our early dinner. Really nice piece of triple tail fish and one stoned crab claw. Yummy! The movie for the evening was Footloose. Much more uplifting and so funny to see all the actors when they were young (1984j.
Today will be cool again (high of 63 with wind). Not sure what the plan is. My DH tends to get nudgy when we don't do anything but his friends don't go out much. The husband had a stroke 40 years ago when in his 30's so he can't walk a lot. I can go on low with the dog in my lap and a book in my hand. We will definitely do our Justice walk regardless though I may need a warmer jacket again.
Have a fascinating Friday!

I have a phone call with my new CPA in a little bit.
Yesterday I went to the grocery store and realized I did a terrible job on my car windows! So I need to re-clean them today. The tile guy came yesterday and is going to give me an estimate for sealing all the tile. I fear it's going to be high. Argh.
I've been influenced! I started following a guy on IG called Tinnedfishreviews because his reviews were mesmerizing and always include his cute dog, King Arthur, wearing a fez. Other than tuna, I'm not a tinned fish person and found the idea icky. But now I get all sorts of tinned fish stuff given to me online. One was intriguing with sardines. I've never had a sardine. But this woman mashed them and airfried them so they were crispy and dipped them in an olive oil, lemon juice, hot sauce mix and it looked really good. So I tried it and indeed it was really good! And 22g of easy protein. Curious what other fishies might be tasty...
I'm marinating some more chicken thighs and bought ingredients for a ground turkey bowl that looked tasty. So that's dinners and lunches sorted for the weekend.
I should go shower. Hope you all have a great Friday!
You were brave trying that sardine recipe! My deceased DH like them, but not me.
That looks like a tasty recipe. Interesting what she says about using sesame oil. I use it in my cauliflower hummus to replace tahini (another high nickel food). I love my hummus.

202.6 Down .2.... I'll take it.
However, I had an eating disorder rebellion day yesterday. Perhaps you are aware of the "Well, if I'm gonna gain weight, I might as well eat like I deserve it" type of thinking??? Well, I had that in spades yesterday. I went to a new bakery in our area. Ron and I shared the samplings: two savory, two sweet. We ate them spread out through the day, but still... Oh, and there was an It's It after dinner. And dinner was not light... We got take away Butter Chicken and Lamb Kabobs from a Indian/Nepalese hole in the wall place we like. I had my food tantrum and am now over it and back on track with my thinking.
And of course, I forgot to take my shot yesterday, too. LOL
I can no longer wait for Molly's ultra sound and am going today to see what can be seen. The vet is still away, but her assistant will do it. We won't get as accurate a count (if there are puppies), but at least I will know if she's expecting.
Fun Friday....
We all need those days once in a while. I think it is healthy if we allow them, but then just put it behind us and go back to our usual habits (with no guilt). In the past when I hadn't developed healthy eating habits I would continue it day after day (which is why I ultimately was 100 pounds overweight).
Are you able to go to the gym and exercise yet? I think your weight, etc. will go in the direction you want once you are back in your routine.

Greetings all
Sun again. I will take it. DH has gone to lunch so I get control of the tv. It was 65 degrees yesterday and will be again today. But the beach warnings are intense and someone dead washed up in the bay yesterday. TV had a good explanation of sneaker waves and why some beaches are more dangerous than others. Good to know.
Sardines CC!!!!! Cool that you found a tasty way to fix them. When I was a kid I actually liked them but I ate almost everything as a kid. Now there is stuff I won't eat and sardines is one of them though if they were prepared other than just out of the can I might be moved. Sounds like a cool guy to watch. Lots of people like smoked tinned fish so maybe there is some good stuff out there. I can't stand the sardine bones. Yuk. And I hear you on the windshields. Really hard to get them actually clean. More power to you on your healthy eating program.
Well Liz, send DH on the Justice walk and you and your friends can play cards or something. Hugs to the stink eye dogs.
Yeah Peps I am sort of in the I AM FAT **** YOU stage of thinking. But I need to get over it as my mobility is suffering and I need to get a few pounds off for strictly health reasons. Aesthetics don't matter to me much these days but moving does. Are you still happy with Orderly Meds?
Today is tooth day for Paula. Sending good energy.
I will do my usual gym walk today and visit the studio. Maybe hit the store for stuff needed for Super bowl. I will make chili. Liz I think out here on the west coast I will need to root for the Seahawks as you must for the Patriots. Don't really care much but just hope it is fun. We are looking forward to Bad Bunny.
Sending DD warm vibes though they are likely not needed in sunny and welcoming Brazil.
Cheers. Diane S.
You might get prices almost as good from the manufacturers now. I plan to get my tirzepatide from LillyDirect when I need more (as long as your PCP is willing to prescribe them): https://www.lilly.com/lillydirect/medicines/zepbound
Of course you must root for the Seahawks! I wondered what my DB would do as he has lived on the west coast (northern California, now Washington) for more than half his life. He says he is still a Patriots fan. I just hope it is a good game. We are looking forward to Bad Bunny too. They had some cool superbowl t-shirts in San Juan with Bad Bunny on them and our friend bought one. I heard someone complaining that he wasn't from the US. Excuse me? Puerto Rico has been part of the US for a long time.

Folks, I grew up in Footloose. The churches had enough influence in my little town to ban dances at school. We had a Junior/Senior Banquet instead of prom. My town was dry. You could not buy any alcohol besides 3.2 beer. The Country Club had set ups. If you were a member, you could rent a cubby behind the bar and keep your bottle of whatever, rum, whiskey, vodka and the Club could sell you Coke or whatever, hand you your bottle, and let you mix it. Even the people who liked to drink actual booze at the Country Club would vote no when a liquor license referendum came up, because they said it kept the riff raff out. You had to go to the next town over to buy your liquor. They apparently didn't mind riff raff spending money in their town.
Peps if Molly is in the family way, will this be your first retirement litter?
DH did not keep up with the sunscreen yesterday, and got a little crispy, so we decided no actual sitting on the beach today. We went shopping, had ice cream for lunch (it was pretty hot away from the beach, I got a bit lightheaded, bit ice cream helped) later had fried polenta and fried manioca, which is a root vegetable common in Brazil, and 2 Coke Zeros. No Diet Coke in the white can that I can find, but the Coke Zero is working out fine. We were going to go swimming at 4pm when the sun is less intense, but DH fell asleep. When he wakes up, we will go to dinner at a beach front restaurant that has live music.
Since the weekend is starting, it's getting very crazy around here, and next weekend is the beginning of Carnival. We hope to get up early and head to the beach before it gets too crowded, but early rising is not one of our strong skills. Our attitude is pretty much whatever, we are grateful to be in paradise.
