119.8 - same. Don't know why it bothers me to hover in the 119s vs 118s. I guess because last year I mostly hovered one pound lower. Like that matters?

DD got home safely yesterday evening after we spent a few hours on the beach with her - actually a bit early contrary to her arrival when her flight was 2.5 hours late. She was originally going to be here for a week from Monday to Monday, but had to move it up to leave on Friday because of a funeral she has to attend over the weekend. Then the storm caused a move from Monday to Tuesday. So a short but good visit!

Last night we had leftovers and I washed the sheets and towels in preparation for the friends arriving today. We were with them in the Keys and they are staying here for 1-2 nights on their way back north. They don't arrive until 5 so we have the day to do our chores. I would cook something for dinner but they don't eat a lot of the same stuff we do. The wife used to be vegetarian but has morphed to eating fish and I guess some organic meats, but not all and is very picky about everything. So I don't feel comfortable cooking. DH suggested a restaurant where we took them previously and they liked it.

In the meantime, I have to put laundry in, a walk with Justice, then yoga and food shopping. Good way to fill a cloudy, potentially showery day. Have a stimulating Saturday!

189.2 Who knows what came over me, but I got all my tax stuff together yesterday afternoon! Shocking.

Continued warm here, but along with being about 80, there was a nice breeze making walking Kirby comfortable.

Liz, cooking for picky eaters is such a minefield. You guys were right to decide to do a restaurant instead!

Not sure what we're doing today. They don't seem inclined to want to do activities. We had planned to go to the botanical gardens in Phoenix, but it's over 90 down there, so that didn't sound good to anyone.

The gate guy starts Monday. Excited about that. Fingers crossed I like it. If I do, I might have him extend the North side patio fence to have gates on both sides. It has a privacy fence, but the ends are open, so Kirby can't go out there.

Anyway, that's here for now. Here's a bonus pic of Kirby enjoying ear scritches from my dad. He's going to be so sad when they leave. They are both threatening to dognap him and take him home with them.

Have a nice weekend!

Great picture of your Dad and Kirby! Your patio looks very inviting too! View is to die for!

Congratulations on getting the tax stuff together! I used to wait until last minute but DH likes to have it ready as soon as he can. So we had it to my tax guy the day after we got back from the Keys and our taxes are already done.

Kirby does like company, I think having a puppy for him (and you LOL) will help him a lot.

Liz, Going out to dinner with your friends sounds like the best choice. The picures of your cupcakes look adorable. What fun!

Diane I hope this foot thing resolves, but it seems like a visit with the podiatris is in order. I wonder if it is tendon related?

Paula, good score at Goodwill!! Wonderful to hear your sales are taking off.

I'm thinking of OceanDiane facing the decline of beloved Sadie. It's hard to see our pets age.

More subbing on the schedule Peps?

We had one more wrinkle post trip. I was motoring along Thursday, doing laundry, cooking dinner, when I noticed my throat was sore. I mentioned it to DH, who also said his was. We figured it was from the dry air on the plane. By bedtime, we both had raging headaches, fatigue and chills. Yesterday was pretty rough. I had to call and tell my Dad we couldn't come this weekend after all. We both slept all day Friday. This morning we are feeling better, but not well. Once I got over having to cancel on my Dad, I've surrendered to the fact that I am sick, and we will both keep resting. We don't have anything on the schedule until March 5th (Tickets to a performance of Macbeth), except DH is going back to his part time work on Tuesday.I guess I was due for something, as I haven't had a cold or anything since April.

Probably because I'm dehydrated, my weight dropped some more. It was fun to see the number I haven't seen in about a year and a half. Reminds me of The Devil Wears Prada, I'm one stomach flu away from my perfect weight.

Aside from the illness, I've made the mental shift to being home, and thinking about plans for the spring and summer. It won't be so long until I'm digging in the soil "playing with my flowers" as my family describes it. Lots to look forward to. I am especially happy knowing I have the time to be sick. It's a weird thought, but I am so grateful that I don't have to try to go back to work or resume life while I'm still feeling not great. There are all kinds of luxuries in life, and the luxury of time is one of the greatest.

So sorry you and DH are sick! I swear it is the germs on the plane! We wore masks on the way to Hawaii last time, no Covid. Didn't wear them on the way home and got Covid!

Best to delay seeing your Dad. I bet he will love hearing about your trip!

So sorry you are both sick! Do you know if it is Covid? I agree with you that one of the benefits of being retired is that you can actually allow yourself to rest and recoup when you get sick without feeling like you are being pressured into getting over it quickly so you can get back to the daily grind.

I hope this brutal winter yields to a beautiful spring so you can enjoy planting your flowers!

Greetings all

Rain sun and more rain. And war in Iran. So it goes.

I got up kind of early today and made eggs and am doing chores. Studio buddy may come over for another IT and also therapy session. I have some paperwork tasks to do which I can busy myself with and noise won't bother me. My desk is an abomination but will work on that too.

Liz more guests!! You are so social! All sounds fun. Yeah restaurant in order. I personally think food picky people need to assume responsibility for that and check restaurant menus ahead or be prepared to supply their own items without complaint. Have a good time.

DD sorry you are sick. But at least you don't have to make the decisions about whether to call in sick or try to make it through the day. Rest is in order. Also soup. Did you take a covid test? Sorry that it interfered with seeing your dad but best for all that you stay put. Good day to stream some old movies. Get well soon.

CC your patio and yard look so great. Very classy and serene. Glad the big rock landed well. Kirby looks well pleased.

So the ankle brace I got seems to help. But there is enough discomfort today that a visit to the podiatrist is in order. At least I have one that I have seen before so I won't have to cold call some place. This guy had me wear a big boot for a month a few years ago and it did work. but this pain is different and I really think it is arthritis. Wishing for a quick fix like cortisone shot but who knows.

Veggie pizza was great!! More tonight. I don't understand why people like little brown meat nuggets or greasy peperroni on pizza. Thanks DH for getting a good one.

Anybody else watch The Pitt? Great medical show but they make it as gory as possible. DH could no****ch as they stitched up someone's tongue.

Great idea Paula to get recycled frames from a shift store. Art frames are so expensive new but thrifted stuff is such a deal! Near here there is a small town that has chain saw art and redwood burl and other wood items. I get the interesting ones as bases for art. Might be another good way to mount wall items.

Cheers. Diane S

Hope the podiatrist will have an easy and effective treatment for your ankle. Hope your studio buddy's IT and therapy session go well! Hehe!
