Halloween is over - a non-event here on the actual day which seems weird. And no grandchildren to enjoy it through. Weird these days to hear people talking about their young grandchildren with more coming. Not happening with my kids. No prospects for my son and he is already in his mid 30's and obviously no children for my daughters. I just have to hope that DSS and DIL will have a child once they return to living in the US (and that they will live somewhat near us).

My PCP wants me to do more weight bearing exercise. She doesn't think the walking is enough but was unsure about yoga. I was thinking about my yoga and I do think a lot of that could be considered weight bearing especially when I google good exercises for osteoporosis and some of them are in my yoga routine (bridges, chair squats for example). I see a specialist on Friday and will see what he has to say. I am not good about keeping up with exercises at home and I don't really want to have to go outside of the community so will see what he recommends. We do have other fitness classes like Pilates, Tai Chi, etc. But I don't feel like I want to add another class. Right now I have 7 days of 3.5 mile walks, 2 days of water aerobics, 2 days of yoga, 2 days of bocce, and 1-2 days of golf. That feels like a lot.

Not sure what we will do today. It is cold again this morning but is supposed to start warming back up from a high in the upper 60's the last couple of days to highs around 80 in the next couple of weeks. That is with lower humidity so will feel glorious. We may go to our usual outdoor music venue this afternoon. Tonight we are meeting a long-time work friend of DH's and his wife for dinner as they just move to our town this week. The last time we had dinner with them I really hit it off with his wife so am looking forward to it.

Time change tonight! I hate the adjustment, but it will be nice to have it not be so dark in the morning (not so nice to have it dark earlier in the evening).

Have a sailing along Saturday!

So you think Mom will get home, then cancel all the assistance? If she tries to do that can you engage the social worker to assist in getting some sort of a mandate that the support continue to be provided? Would that require some sort of guardianship (which would be a lot to take on)?

Funny how quickly 8:30 can seem awfully early. I have to go for fasting labs in February and asked for an early time (since I had to fast). But when she said 7 am I blinked and said no way - how about 8:30 (which is also early for me LOL).

I never heard that about statins. Interesting and scary (both DH and I are on them - seems like most everyone is).

I already replied to this but it disappeared???

Quick medical result! Mine took a while but they had to wait to receive my prior scans from Massachusetts to compare.

I hope you have a good visit with DSD and SIL. They may be feeling a bit sad and seeing your stuff packed up might not help. But once they visit you in Florida they will get over it,

A lot of places do Trunk or Treat these days where they all go to a large parking lot and go car to car. Not a bad idea IMO.

On my setting a child definitely could burn if they weren't careful but since there are never any little ones here I can get a good hot shower.

No one way out here to Trick or Treat. But all the merchants in Uptown Sedona have candy for trick or treaters and there do a Thriller flash mobs in one of the plazas. Tlaquepaque is our nice shopping area and they go all out for Dia de los Muertos today and tomorrow. Unfortunately it brings in hordes of tourists so a lot of traffic and nowhere to park. I would like to see it once though!

Hi everyone, I spent the day at the hospital, and I am worn out, but okay. A lot of palns were proposed, but in retrospect, I don't think much will change. My Mom is most likely going to be discharged Monday. My brother needs to visit our family land up north and do some weatherizing on pipes etc and prepare for deer hunting, so I told him to go ahead tomorrow, and I'll visit again at the hospital. I have plans on Monday, so he will take Mom home from the hospital. I'll write more later, tonight I am completely wiped! I enjoyed reading everyone's posts and hope all have a great weekend!

Happy Halloween! I decided to NOT go to school today. I have been so enjoying the lack of a candy-holiday food fest in my face, I decided staying home was the prudent thing to do. Plus, the parade at my old school was at 8:30 am and I am barely presentable at that hour anymore! LOL! Besides, including my own elementary school years, I've participated in 39 elementary school Halloween parades. If the truth be known, I'm done! My school career is a finished chapter in the story of the Life of Peps.

Got house work done today and a great workout at the gym. I am proud of my 5 day a week gym routine. I am pushing myself to get back to being able to do 40 pushups in a row. I was able to do 25 in a row on my first set. That's a good start. I probably could have done a few more.

Flu and Covid vaccines on board. Got them yesterday. Boy, oh boy, did my arm hurt!!!! I could not sleep on my left side because it hurt my shoulder so much! Feels much better after vacuuming and working out.

I am amazed at the price of coffee! Tariffs and bad weather are said to be the reason. I'm leaning heavily towards tariffs as the main culprit.

Paula, you have a point about my weight and size. However, I really do WANT to get down to that more ideal weight for me. There are a few reasons. One is pure vanity. I'm still thicker in the middle than I would like to be. The second is that once under 190 my metabolic issues lessen/reverse. My blood sugar levels stay consistently in the 80s to 90s, my BP goes down to about 110/70-120/80 without medication, and my need to be on a statin seems to go bye bye! However, I've been on a statin for so long, I'm not sure it's advisable to stop. (I've read that going off the statin in one's "senior" years invites strokes. Albeit, my dad was in his later 80s when his doc took him off statins, when he went off the statin - BOOM stroke!!!)

It is close to 6 and we have yet had a trick or treater! Booooooo! I'm hoping we have at least a few! We will close up around 7:45 to go visit BFF and his Halloween extravaganza. He goes all out. We'll bring a pizza and have a late dinner.

Hard to believe that tomorrow it will be November! Holy cow! Time seems to fly by in retirement! I'm missing the school markers I am so accustomed to using to mark time elapsed. For years it was reading and writing curriculum and school holidays. Then it was the songs I taught the students. Now I guess it will be annual dog shows...

Still no candy has passed my lips! No promises for later! LOL!
