Greetings all

We are home safely from LaLa land. Fun visit. The new baby is absolutely movie star gorgeous and she is also not at all fussy. Very attentive to faces and sound. Spent time with DH and his two remaining sisters and the other nephew and his wife and two teen age daughters came for one evening. This is the nephew that earns his living as a music composer in Hollywood. The entire family is extremely talented and they play the piano and sing together. I swear one girl is the next Taylor Swift. They are lovely people and I am glad to have them since I have so little family on my side. One sister has a PHD on choral conducting and does all this stuff including voice coaching for students who are transgender or gender fluid. Never thought of those issues but it makes sense. DH other sister is a good person but as he put it "imperious" and lords over the kitchen and hates dogs. Still a great time. I am so glad to not live down there. Just one big piece of concrete. Rental car on arrival was a nightmare due to walking miles dragging luggage, getting lost, DH getting stuck in a Tesla and on and on. Once past all that it was fine. Nephew took us to a movie -The Naked Gun remake and it was ok but lame. Theatre had reclined seats and tray tables and sold all kinds of food so you could recline on your azz and stuff your face. So American.

Anyway we got home yesterday afternoon. DH managed to lose the parking lot ticket between getting to the car and getting to the gate but we worked it out. LOL. Sure glad to be back where it is 60 degrees instead of 90. I think I mentioned that imperious sister's house does not have air conditioning so we had fans and sat outside. Huh?

So from all this I have learned that I can indeed survive travel so I am totally up for Sedona adventure. I would do a hotel and spouses optional though DH is fun and jovial. We were in Sedona about 25 years ago after our firm had an event in Scottsdale. Love the place.

Well I am getting sort of serious about checking into the meds. The trip made me realize more than ever how much better life would be without a few extra pounds. Interesting to observe DH and his sister and their body types. They are all shaped like bowling pins as was the now deceased older sister. All have weight in abdomen. Reminds me that much more about weight is genetic than most of society admits.

Loved hearing about Peps and DD meet up. Peps is indeed charming and fun (as we no doubt all are).

CC is we pull off this meet up, don't sweat it. We are big kids and will pitch in.

DD enjoy your trip! Thinking of you in the Scottish heather!

Liz I say hell no to the trampoline. Teen age phase.

More later maybe. I am still on coffee.

Very busy days Liz! Good thoughts for your daughter's surgery and the quality of life improvements it will bring her.

A spring get together would seem to work best. Since our niece lives in Phoenix, DH and I would probably travel to Arizona together and make it a vacation. We've never been to Arizona, or the southwest for that matter. Or, if people are just flying in for a day or two, I could do that too, and DH and I could do Arizona together on a different trip.

Yesterday Aussie sister returned to our house for the day, and DH took her to the airport at 4am this morning. She should be back to Salt Lake City soon, after doing a connecting flight in Chicago.

One of my last ground travel details, I got an email back confirming a driver to take us across the Isle of Mull from one ferry port to another. They only accept cash, 140 pounds. I need to call my bank to order some pounds. I know I can get some in Glasgow, but I'll feel better if I have that amount on me in case there are any ATM snafus. Other than that, some laundry, filling a packing cube with summer clothes for DH to bring me, and some odds and ends.

While yesterday was cool and sunny, today is cool and overcast. A preview of Scottish weather?

I have to be off my GLP 1 for 2 weeks prior to surgery.

Lol, as I was talking to my DH, he said he would rather stay home too! I've already subjected him to a few class reunions where he didn't know anyone!

Check your home insurance for a reason not to get a trampoline. Mine says I can't have one! Or a Rottweiler...

118.2 - 5 days in a row at the same weight. If I do one more day it will be a record since I stabilized more or less a year ago LOL.

Didn't do much yesterday other than walk Justice a couple of times and finish a book. It was drizzly until mid-day. DH can't sit and read all day, so he worked in the yard and started making a bocce court in the backyard. DH's 13 year old granddaughter asked about putting a trampoline back there. Might be fun for her the 2-3 times a year she visits for a few years, then it will be this hunk of stuff moldering in the yard which no one will take responsibility to remove... He is hoping she drops the idea or that bringing her to a fun place a couple of towns away that has them (along with other fun kid stuff) will suffice.

Today we may go to the beach for a little while. It will be busy the next few days as tomorrow we take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard to spend the day with my eldest DD. Thursday I travel to central Massachusetts to see other DD and stay overnight to be there for her hysterectomy Friday morning. If all goes well I will head back to Cape Cod late Friday. DH's 2 daughters, their families and maybe some friends are coming for the weekend. Busy times!

Interestingly, because DD is on Mounjaro, they have her fast for 24 hours prior to surgery. They used to have people stop the medication a week or 2 prior but now they just have them do one day of fasting.

I just remembered I might want to do a little bit of picking up around here (very little as I am not cluttery). DH's DD and DSIL may be arriving tonight to stay through Labor Day (will arrive tomorrow if not tonight).

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Fall comes fast doesn't it?

My DH would probably prefer not to come, but either way I would be fine at a B&B or wherever. We are staying at the same one we have been to twice before when we come up after the wedding this October (Sunset Chalet).

Those darn cognitive tests. I remember my SIL telling me that there was no way at any age that she could count backwards by 7 from 100 and the doctor laughed and asked if she could do it by 5 (she could).

It is quite weird what the clock does look like with dementia though- I remember seeing it the first time with DH. I don't think they were doing those tests until you turned 65 back then unless there was a problem.
