Your beach club is wonderful! Enjoy everything it has to offer. You and your DH are making a beautiful life together.
Sunny today and in the 50s. Its comfortable out of the wind and shade, but pretty nippy if you're not. Green is just starting to appear. We face north. Our neighbors across the street have a lot of green in their lawn, as they are south facing. We'll catch up.
The play we saw last night was tremendous. It's based on a true story/Minnesota history I did not know. During WW2, young men who were interred in Japanese Camps with their families were offered the chance to join the army and go to a special Japanese language training to become spies and translators. Even though they were 2nd generation Americans, many states didn't want to run the program. Minnesota did, so the language training happened here. The subject of internment camps for Japanese citizens is such an ugly part of our history, and sadly, tragically, feels relevant.
Today is a laid back Saturday. We went for coffee, then to St. Vinny's where I indulged my new hobby of buying cloth napkins. If they are in decent shape and the right color for my dishes, I buy them. Today's pale yellow ones were 49¢ a piece. If they get stained, they quickly transition to rags.
Laundry started, kitchen cleaned up, some paperwork needs tackling, and then dinner at my parent's house tomorrow. Then back to school, while resuming my countdown to June 13.
High end because it's a period of celebration! You'll adjust downward again, but for now, enjoy. It's nice to hear about your community. When we were thinking about a winter home in Florida, that was one of the selling points. Now, since we're going to be nomads, DH is stuck trying to get me to golf, instead of joining a league. God speed to him!
Liz, I agree that living in a new community with many other "transplants" creates eagerness to build friendships. Spring Break has descended upon us too! A former teacher and her husband are down vacationing and we'll meet for a late lunch to avoid crowds. Tomorrow afternoon, after three Easter Services, (Deputy Leader of Safety Team) I'll join friends for dinner at one of their homes. I am the only single person in my Mahjongg tribe and my close friends circle. The men join us for some of our adventures and I am just now beginning to feel open to another relationship. Today, I am 144, the high end of my 139-144 range. Too many Easter baked goods and jelly beans !

120.2 - methinks when my weight fluctuates often it is due to the need for good bathroom time.
Nice weather day yesterday. We ate lunch and dinner at the Beach Club but didn't stay at the pool/beach there because it was too crowded. Not an empty chair anywhere, so we came back to our neighborhood pool and floated around. Apparently MANY families come down for Easter weekend. The staff says after this next week it will start to look like summer volume around here. My family has rarely visited over Easter mostly because at this point I am close to coming home. We have been eating at the Beach Club a lot because it truly has the best food and view anywhere around here. Lucky us!
Today I have water aerobics, then this afternoon we are probably going to our usual outdoor music venue. Dinner out this evening with 8 of our "new" friends (friends made over the last couple of years). But first, a Justice walk!
Have a superb Saturday!

This neighbor is not a true friend. Clearly she thinks she is always in the right and can rationalize her (and her son's) behavior no matter what. In her head her hurtful comments turn everyone else into the bad guys and she and her son become the victims.

Interesting comments about having fewer friends as we age. That is definitely true up north, but because everyone is a transplant here most people are interested in making new friends.

Must be nice to see Ben in your son.

Luckily, BFF is a ride or die friend of 40+ years. We had a chat today. All is well in our world. One thing is that is true about the relationship he and I have is that I will never fully understand his anxiety, depression, and proclivity to catastrophize. I empathize, but I don't really "get" it.

Peps, we should hook up your bff and my almost-former friend/neighbor. They would get along famously! Or, it would be like crossing the streams from the Ghostbusters proton packs and be very bad...
I wondered if we were making very slight headway with olive twigs (not branches), but today the HOA sent out the new fine schedule significantly upping the fine for operating a customer-based business from your home. It was $25 which is no deterrent. It's now $5000. Otherwise, why wouldn't they just pay the fine and keep breaking the rule? If she stops by July 1st, the fine is $0!
She texted me (I don't feel like cleaning up her typos): did you and other board members approve the document just sent out or is this just martha (the president) who did it?
Me: She signed it, but HOAMCO (our management co) and the board gave input and approved it.
Her: you and the board truly are vindictive!
Her: his teaching doesnt hurt anyone in our neighborhood!!!
Me: Amy, It's not meant to be vindictive, it's meant to deter and also covers short term rentals which are another form of commercial business. If the CC&Rs are followed, there will be no fines applied.
Honestly, the "you" in "you and the board truly are vindictive" stung. This isn't on me, but I am a convenient target for her. There are no fines if she complies with the rule they are breaking by July 1st, which is very generous I think. I am less and less inclined to want to try to keep her as a friend. And while I would be happy to sit down and try to help her understand any part of this, I don't think she can absorb anything but what feeds her sense of being a victim rather than responsible for not abiding by the rules she agreed to.
On a more interesting topic, the weather here is bonkers. After 87 degrees last weekend, it snowed again today. I posted someone else's video from today on TT. Stunning!
So nothing else here, just dealing with text-induced adrenaline spikes that leave me a shaky mess and trying to stay warm despite Kirby wanting to go outside to sniff all the wet smells and wanting me to join him.
Take care all...
