I'm on my way to get my hair colored and cut, and catch up on what's happening in my nephew/nieces life. A lot right now, because they had their little cabin of a house torn down and having a proper house built in it's place. They have a lovely lot with deeded access to the lake across the street where they can put out a dock, so it makes sense they want to stay put. They are currently living in a 30foot camper trailer next to the building site with 2 boys, a cat, and a Labrador. I'm sure there will be a lot of stories.

Yesterday, instead of working out I decided to do some heavier gardening. It was a good work out with all the squatting and lifting because my quadriceps in particular are sore. Good, because they seem very weak when I get on the machine and move the pin to what weight I can lift.

Not sure what the plans will be when I get back from my haircut around 3pm. I was thinking about going crazy and buying some ingredients to make a new recipe.

I think if a person can tour places like Auschwitz, one should, to pay respects and be a witness. I would imagine it could be quite an emotional visit.

As I was typing the date I remembered it is the anniversary of my older brother's death 56 years ago. Such a long time!

So we are staying with DH's DS and DIL (how do I abbreviate darling step son - DSS?). It is government housing and the WiFi seems to have extra security as OH is Blocked! I have to use my cellular connection on my phone to type this.

I talked to SIL after we got here yesterday and she is doing much better! Fingers crossed that she can fly home within a couple of days.

Today we will take a walk, visit a museum, tour the US Embassy, and eat out at a Polish restaurant. Nice to soak in the surroundings!

Tomorrow we are taking a train to Krakow and will be touring Auschwitz. Like the end of Caberet, not necessarily pleasant to remember but very important.

Time to take a walk along the river. Have a terrific Tuesday!

The whole SS thing is weird but once it starts it is pretty religious. My DH gets paid the week before me because his birth day is the 8th and mine is the 16th.

Mondays are a different vibe and it matters less if you don't get enough sleep the night before!

I am looking forward to trying that Big Mac salad whenever I can get back to cooking!

We are visiting DH's DS and DIL in Poland for 4 days. They are in their second of 3 days living and working here for the US government.

Monday as Saturday for errands is great as it is less busy but restaurants are sometimes closed LOL.

Hyrangeas sometimes burn on Cape Cod at the end of summer if it is really hot and dry and they are in full sun. But they still do well in that kind of summer in partial sun if watered enough.

I remember a bullet filled Bonnie and Clyde car on display in our local KMart's parking lot when I was a kid!

During Prohibition, St.Paul was a gangster sanctuary! The police chief had an agreement: 1. Criminals check in to let him know they were there 2. They pay off the police department 3. They commit no crimes with in St. Paul city limits. If they did this, St. Paul police would protect them, hide them etc. Dillinger was one of the more famous people hiding out. Eventually, crime happened, and the city demanded a clean up. Even with that, a few bad players got left behind.

I don't think of the area as a hotbed now of organized crime, but it had it's moments. There was a supper club in some caves by the Mississippi called the Wabasha Caves that gangsters used. Its an event center now (cousin had his wedding reception there). The staff will show you the bullet holes from gangster shoot outs in the walls and of course there are gangster ghosts that haunt the place.

The timing of Social Security checks is interesting. Good things to keep in the back of my brain!

I can't eat out every night either. It definitely gets old for me!

Odd about all the mob ties in the Midwest. We have stories from around here too being close to Chicago!
