We are waiting for our train to Barcelona right now. Crazy train station!

So yesterday was an experience. SIL ended up being admitted to the local hospital with a lung infection, covid, and a resulting low oxygen level. So neither she nor my other SIL who took her to the ER made it to the wedding. Nor did the groom's 2 aunts and niece as they missed several plane connections and ended up stuck in Monaco.

And what a wedding it was! Beautiful old building on beautiful grounds! Everything was outside except for the dancing which commenced at midnight. The officiant was a pastor who knew the bride since was a young child and came out of retirement just for this wedding. The ceremony was in both Spanish and English. Readings were read both ways. The bride said her vows in Spanish and the groom said his in English. A beautiful, touching ceremony. Everyone looked wonderful, the grounds were gorgeous, and the sunset over the hills was beautiful. The food! The drinks! The dancing! A few Americans left around midnight via Uber. 5 of us took the 2 am bus and the rest took the 4 am. These Spaniards really know how to party!

I saw SIL in the hospital this morning and showed her videos and pictures. She looked a little grey but sounded strong. She is on antibiotics and Paxlovid. Needless to say we are relatively certain the other SIL's cold was Covid though she wasn't going to bother to test. DSD and I are a bit under the weather today with a little congestion so we probably have it. Arghhh...

Onto Barcelona shortly and I will send DH to a pharmacy for a test.

That's it for now! Have a fine Friday and inspiring Independence Day!

I agree that contemplating a task can sometimes make the task more daunting than it really is. And it feels so good when the task is done.

Something that thrives on neglect would be right in my wheelhouse!

I am so sorry for DC1. Hard to find out that they were at a completely different place.

When we were in our 20's anyone in our current age group seemed so old! We would have figured all the fun was in their past lives.

Another meet up! Diane and Peps this weekend and you and Peps! I'm a little jealous;)

Ann this is the floribunda rose Bonica. Grows in the midwest. Thrives on neglect. DS

Greetings all

Lzing about here. DH is on an errand so I get to choose my news shows. I will get up and going in a few and stop at the gym. These days I go every day when I don't have too much other stuff so this is it. Got the July 4 grocery items yesterday to take to tomorrows festivities which should be interesting. This is the group that one friend won't go to because of the other annoying guy. The leader of this group died last December so our holiday gathering tradition is jeopardized. Glad this other friend is stepping up for july 4 though in the past she has been a grumpy resentful hostess. Oy vey, people. Our holiday is Halloween due to our neighborhood so I am mercifully spared a big cooking day.

Yow Liz that wedding is indeed an event. Big doings! I sure hope the less well SIL does alright. Good on her for making it there thought. Family gatherings matter. Glad your DH is there.

I am loving that DD and Peps check in earlier now that they own their time. So grand. Porch time. Peps I will see you Saturday.

DD so nice that your DD has a new apt with storage. Agreed on the shelves. There are lots of inexpensive options. Boxes stacked on the floor end up in the Twilight Zone. Just had a conversation with a friend from way back about our various hoarder relatives and how we had to call 1-800 Got Junk.

Yoo Hoo Ann good to hear from you. Yep your DH is right. Get that painting done now. Now or never. Have fun nesting in the newly remodeled digs.

Paula sorry that DC1 is having issues on the dating front. Not easy. Hope it does not lead to more issues.

I have started the dog blanket washing marathon. It is really not so bad - thinking about it is worse than actually doing it. I should remember that in all things - the dread that comes with contemplating an unpleasant task is worse than actually doing it. This is sure true for me for exercise and shopping and all manner of things. Need to remind myself of that.

Pot pie tonight. DH scored my favorite coffee on sale at the grocery. Small pleasures.

Diane S
