Glad you got to finally have a beach day Liz!

Hope the nine and dine was fun!

Tomorrow is the big day! We close on our new home at 11:00. The final walk through went pretty good. A few dead bugs to sweep up (definitely more bugs in FL, at least they were dead!). We will have to figure out how to start up the pool heater! The breaker for it was shut off.

DC1 has called to talk every day but overall their spirits seem good. They just got a promotion at work, have made new friends over the last few months and have started to make strides in cleaning their hoarder's apartment. I think not having us to lean on so much might just help them fly! I'm excited for the changes I'm seeing!

Have a great time at Disney.

What are you snipping on a 3 day old puppy? Inquiring minds want to know!

So sorry your Dad is back in the hospital and that his infection is so resistant to treatment.

Cool about all the fun treatments at the medispa!

Enjoy your new picture!

Sorry to read about your dad. I think you and Claudia are right.... Getting well is the priority - not getting home!

Facial sounds interesting! I've had a hydra facial before. It was okay, but not worth it to me.

Greetings all

it is overcast and sort of rainy here. I am lazing about. DH is napping in the bedroom as he was feeling chilled. Hope it is not a cold but glad he is in the other room so I can control the tv. Plans for today include gym walk, quick store trip, gluing some art items and laundry.

CC sorry your dad is back in the hospital. Totally agree he needs an infectious disease specialist. Also agree he needs to stay until well and not just good enough to go home. He will likely need rounds of iv antibiotics. No fun for him though. And what a cool facial!! Never heard of all that but it sounds fun and very beautifying. I used to get facials monthly. Might start again. Great idea. And of course the painting looks great because it is.

DD sending you strength for another day. You are certainly getting useful things done whether anyone else realizes or not. Hope your dad gets a deer if that is what he wants and that you can maintain your therapeutic attitude through the rest of stay. Peace.

Liz glad you got a beach day. Always deserved. You are so lucky to have that beach club. Sounds like there is always something fun going on. 9 and dine. Give me the dine part.

Regarding my fashion statement, that skirt is actually a long t shirt. Since I posted that, the internet has decided I need new bras for my fat floppy boobs. My facebook is flooded with ads for bras for old ladies with big boobs. Geez, what kind of algorithms are checking my boob size? There were no words about that - only the picture. Scary.

Peps have fun at Disneyland. I sure hope the rain lets up and that the waterproof shoes are unnecessary. Say hi to Mickey. Do the Haunted house ride - my favorite.

Paula did I read that right - your new house is furnished? What a treat! You can start nesting with just fun stuff!

The SW Florida eagles have a second egg! Last years eaglets succumbed to bird flu. Hoping these do better. Must hatch first.

201.6 - lowest in a while! Whoo hoo...

Busy day ahead. I have a grooming, then airport run for the dog sitter flying in from Seattle, and then at 5pm I have a litter of 3 day old puppies coming for a snip snip. Have to finish cleaning up a bit at some point, too. Dog sitter wants to go out to dinner and then go for ice cream. At some point I will have to pack, too! I did get a fair amount of cleaning done yesterday, so that's good!

I was able to find a pair of waterproof trail runners at Sports Basement yesterday. They are comfortable (not as much as my Hokas). I think they will be fine for Disneyland walking. And my toes will be dry, which is most important.

Must run off to my get ready for my day!

My dad is back in the hospital. They know the bacteria he has now and has had since June. It's extremely hard to get rid of (obviously) and resistant to most antibiotics. The doctor is trying to get the infectious disease department involved to see if they can help. He's basically ending up in the hospital every 2-4 weeks now and feels crappy in between. Claudia and I decided the goal needs to not be getting him home, but getting him well. Otherwise, coming here this winter may not be a great idea.

Raining today and for much of the coming week with some daytime breaks. The plants will be thrilled!

On a whim, I decided todo a facial yesterday at a laser medispa here that gets great reviews and that a friend raves about. I thought it was a regular facial, but it was all kinds of lasery treatments! All at the lowest levels while she learns my skin and I see what works and doesn't. Not at all what I expected, but I'm glad I did it. She did IPL all over, RF microneedling along my jaw and marionette lines, and cold plasma all over (felt fine except really uncomfortable on my forehead - apparently lack of fat there means it conducts well into your bones. I could also feel it in the roots of my teeth. Icky feeling). She also lasered some broken capillaries and what I thought was a mole above my eyebrow for the last 20 years, but turns out was a sebaceous thing. That last alone was worth it. I'm slightly itchy today, but in a week, it should look pretty good! I already have an appointment for next month for a carbon peel that she said zaps clogged stuff from pores and makes them appear smaller. Fun!

The painting came and is on the wall. Looks great.

That's all from here. Enjoy your Sundays!

Our stuff should get here on the 22nd. The house is fully furnished with furniture but doesn't have kitchen supplies, towels etc. I packed what I thought we would need for that first week in our car.

I probably will leave a review on the VRBO but they are actually selling this place and it is pending so not sure how much longer they plan to rent it out. Perhaps they have other properties though.

117.2

Yesterday was deceased DH's birthday. I talked to the kids and they were doing well but DS was feeling very sad. We talked about that last birthday party that DS insisted on. It was tiring and confusing for DH but it was a good opportunity for his friends to see him one last time. Though he couldn't really talk by then and I don't think he knew why he recognized the people, I do think he knew that they were friends.

Yesterday we had a real beach day finally. We read and snoozed on the pool deck, took a long walk on the beach, then went to Happy Hour at the bar for a short time. Dinner was whatever we could cobble at home.

The bus leaves for breakfast at 7:30 as usual. We have a free lunch during which we hear a presentation of a Safari trip, followed by a Nine and Dine of golf and dinner. These events are hugely attended as they are a lot of fun even if you don't play golf very well like me.

Time to get changed for breakfast and start the laundry. Have a surprising Sunday!

The humidity is really low compared to the rest of the year right now which is part of why I like fall. No need for the AC to be on especially at night.

I agree with Peps that you need to give the VRBO people a review that includes the refrigerator situation. I wouldn't rent a place from someone who didn't give you a break on the rent or some similar recompense. It's just not right. We rented a place once that was advertised to be a single family but it turned out that someone lived downstairs. As a result we didn't feel comfortable using the backyard. The owner did give us a reduction in our rent when we complained about the false advertising. We suggested they tell the truth in the future.

Florida homeowners tomorrow! Seems like it came fast. When will your furniture arrive? Will it have any furniture at all before your stuff comes?
