A week does not leave a lot of time for your SIL to find a dress, or start to feel better. :( I might do both: order some dresses from Amazon that are returnable, and maybe pick up a few from local shops. Does she have a dress in her closet that she likes that could be altered?
Yesterday was a lot of different emotions. We went to a funeral. The deceased was 9 years older than DH. I didn't know him, but his wife is just the loveliest person, and from the eulogy, it sounds as though he was too. We went to the luncheon afterwards, and I met some of DH's coworkers, whose names and stories I knew, but had never chatted with before. Also nice people.
We got our workouts done afterwards, and felt smug because we've gone a whole two days in a row!! We're rocking it for sure. One step at a time will build a habit. After that, I settled in with a couple of papers (catching up) and we had dinner.
After dinner, I got a text from one of my college roommates that her DH had a scan, and the current diagnosis is stage IV pancreatic cancer that needs to be confirmed with a biopsy. Praying the scan is wrong, but he is at Mayo, so probably not. Those doctors most likely know what they're looking at. My friends are very Catholic, so I said a rosary for him, which is something I've probably done 3 times in my life. When they asked me to pray, I wanted to be able to tell them I had. They got married 2 months before DH and I did. Roomie and I were living together when we both got engaged. Her DH is also our long-time friend. I am so sad.
Then my Mom started texting me mean things like my Dad is an SOB. But she didn't abbreviate. Nice. I didn't open it and didn't respond, and I won't. I know its sitting there because I got a notification, but I don't want to turn off notifications, so these kind of things will pop up. But that's my new plan. No response at all to inappropriate comments, texts etc.
Today our plan is to workout in the morning, and then some yard work in the afternoon. Looks like it could be a nice day weather wise. There is a free concert in a park in St Paul tomorrow night by a group we enjoy. Normally we pay to see them :) Hoping the weather is good so the concert goes on. Friday night we had a college roomies dinner planned. We shall see...

No post yet this morning by Peps? He may be having a busy in-port day. We shall see when I press submit.
Yesterday I got a lot done - all laundry clean, I am fully unpacked, and food shopping done. We met SIL for dinner. She does NOT look good. She has back problems which were not really alleviated much by recent back surgery and she is suffering from distressing side-effects from a chemo drug which they had to stop a couple of weeks ago because of that. We leave a week from today for Spain whi*****ludes the formal wedding of our shared nephew. She doesn't have a dress yet and doesn't feel well enough to shop! So assuming she will feel better for the trip, something needs to be done about getting her a dress. I feel like I should run around shops and buy a bunch of candidates for her to try. Maybe use Amazon??? And I am worrying about her ability to make the trip. Fingers crossed that she starts feeling a lot better.
Today we don't have much specific to do though DH wants to do some yard work and take the trash to the dump. It might be a challenge as sciatica kicked up for him a week ago in Aruba when he was getting off a fishing boat and has been getting worse especially yesterday after golf. Maybe he should rest??? Something he doesn't much like to do. Though he and I do also both like easing into the day. We sit for at least an hour with our coffee, the dog and read the news (and I post here). It was a habit both of us had developed independently after retiring and we often comment on how nice it is that we share it.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Interesting comment about sunglasses inside. It always disconcerts me too so it must be the eye contact aspect. We have an acquaintance in Florida who always wears them indoors.

That rose bush is beautiful! Must be great growing conditions there. We are waiting for the hydrangeas to be fully out - they are starting to get their color.

It is true that we have a lot more fresh seafood on the coast. But you have to know where to go to get the best meals. Generally not the chains though.
Nice to be able to drop a medication! Weight loss definitely lowers the BP.
One advantage of longer hair is being able to go longer between appointments as long as one doesn't need roots touched up frequently. Since I only have mine highlighted I don't have to deal with that as long as it is done well. When my hair was short and I was working I went every 4 weeks, then stretched it to every 6 weeks after retirement. But now I go about 3 months between appointments.

I'm due for a colonoscopy next year and am glad to put it off. The procedure doesn't bother me (I have been partially out), but I hate the prep.

Great way to get good Tommy Bahama shirts. DH has a good variety bought over many years so doesn't need more, but my BIL used to get nice shirts that way. DH wears them for casual but slightly more dressed up than a golf shirt. The biggest appeal for him is not having to tuck them in LOL.

Even just in the time we've had the house in MI, the "world foods" availability at the market went from one 6 foot shelf section made up almost solely of Old El Paso to a whole aisle with lots of authentic choices for all kinds of foods from different countries.

Today the landscaper came and in addition to cleaning up the yard, they fixed my driveway lights. Yay! Though I'm not sure how a wire connection buried 8" under the dirt suddenly came undone by itself, but there you go.
I had lunch with a neighbor and we had a nice time. I do find it strange when people wear sunglasses inside. Perhaps she has sensitive eyes? It made me think about how much of communication is via eyes. I found myself looking out the window when I talked in lieu of the eye contact I couldn't make...
I think that's all from my quiet corner! Hello to all!
