That was my problem - they wouldn't stick! Grrr.
A few of my neighbors have generators (those who moved from back East or the Midwest) and our community well has a generator, but thankfully, power outages are rare here. Our powerlines are buried. So if the power goes out, it's generally because they're working on something. If it's going well, it's short, if it's not going well, it can last all day. But I happened to look at the power company website the other day and it said it has been 132 days since my last outage. So it's not that bad. The bummer is, without power I don't have Internet, and without Internet I don't have a working phone or any bars to look up the power company website...

My hearing is great and I struggle with British tv shows! My tv always has captions on.
Those cookies sound delicious! Have I sent you my new address yet?
Greetings all
It has rained lightly all day but not a downpour. So it was no sweat driving to Scrabble. Again I had the Shark on the ropes but lost at the very end by just a couple of points. Dang it. But I won the other two games so there. Hard to get annoyed with an enormous man wearing a Santa Hat. This group is fun because we discuss all the events of the day - local and national. There are always funny stories.
So afterwards I stopped in to a tiny Mexican restaurant for a small burrito. Could only eat half thanks to vsg. I will go back there as it is one of those neighborhood places that everyone knows everyone. After that I spent some time making new stuff at the studio and then went to the gym and walked.
And my Apple watch arrived. Yikes it has a zillion functions and I have yet to figure out the two I want which is step counting and heart rate. Baby steps.
Liz stay warm on your travels. It will be fun to have the family together and lucky you your DS cooks!
DD the Duluth trip looks great. Worth the chill. Beautiful scene. And those cookies sound spectacular. And labor intensive.
Ditto Paula. Yellow hibiscus is as great as xmas lights.
CC your roofers lucked out with the cookie bonus. Don't know how you managed with the power blips. Do people there have generators or are power blips rare? They are common here. Ovens take a lot of power I guess. And yeah spritz cookies are a pain because you have to get the exact right texture or they won't come out of the press and stick. Fortunately there are many other ways to get butter. Like Russian Tea Cakes. I have a recipe for sliced spiced almond squares which I think I will make next week. Yikes, Christmas is almost here!
Today my older brother would have been 78. I think I have told you all that he got sleeved maybe 6 or 7 years before he died and it changed his whole life for the better. A gift.
Peps yay for experiences as gifts. Are you also going to the Sphere in Las Vegas? On my bucket list.
Cheers all
Diane S
I have only slightly impaired hearing, but enough that in classrooms, restaurants and other places with a lot of background noise (e.g. dog shows!) I have trouble hearing softer voices in a specific frequency range (female and child speaking vocal ranges). I'm beginning to notice i****ching British TV shows, too.
Loss of hearing accelerates cognitive decline, so I figured it's in my best interest to keep my hearing from deteriorating any faster than it is. Good hearing aids can slow down the progression of hearing loss and keep the mind engaged in outside stimuli.
