Greetings all

As Peps reported it is foggy here this morning. I like the fog due to its cooling effect. So I am lounging about before my gallery shift this afternoon. Yesterday was fun and I enjoyed being back in the dog show world. I used to know a lot of people in this crowd but not anymore. And for the record, Peps made me eat the ice cream LOL. It was exceptionally good and I think it is because the local area is full of dairy farms and so the milk and cream has not spent days in storage and transport. Anyway, that ice cream stand is now on my radar.

DD nice that you are having a good porch day. Thanks for the movie reference. Yes we need to hear from the rest of the tribe! Yoo Hoo!. Yeah medicare supplements go up and up. Seemed pretty cheap at age 65 but not so at age 73. Oh well. For the time being I have the pricy supplement. I did not pay one cent for my cataract surgery.

Safe travels home Liz. What a spectacular trip. Healing energy to your SIL.

Peps kick more dog show butt today. Bet you do. Worth the trip to this odd little corner of the world. Everyone, the entire town of Ferndale is on the Historic Registry as a victorian village. It has wonderful architecture and the downtown looks like 150 years ago. It also has a really interesting cemetery. Check it out on the internet.

CC are you traveled yet? Hope all is well.

Not much else. I am very sad about these horrible floods in Texas and wondering what can be learned about better warnings and safety measures. It looks like the water rose at an astonishing rate in the middle of the night.

I will maybe get a pizza for tonight. trinidad has a pretty good little pizza place. time to gear up for my gallery shift in an hour. Still waiting for clean clothes from the dryer.

It is great dog show weather here in Ferndale, but it's too cold for me! The weather is very much like the weather was in Oakland when I was growing up. Foggy all morning, sunny for a few hours and then the fog rolls back in around 4 pm. I grew to hate that summer weather pattern. Guess I still sort of do. But, one can have hydrangeas and English cottage gardens here and it's rarely too hot to work in the garden here, as well. So there are perks. But I don't like feeling like I can't get warm!

I have my overnight stays for my road trip to Ohio completed. I should probably make sure I have everything set for the way home, too.

I'm glad I have 3.5 years before needing to sign up for medicare! I'm not looking forward to the process.

Not much else since last night.

The medigap info is good to know. In my perusal of independent policies, they are pretty affordable up until about 75. Some of the policies won't even insure you after that age, or the price goes up dramatically. Medigap may be really helpful in that regard. Sadly, we have crunched the numbers, and I don't foresee we will be able to afford original Medicare and a gap plan. We will probably have to go the advantage plan route, even though I would prefer not to. One saving grace, Minnesota is implementing a law that medi gap plans cannot ding you for pre existing conditions if you decide later you want original Medicare, so switching doesn't have the same financial hit as it does in some other states. There are 2 advantage plans we can use that have some overseas coverage, but I'd probably still buy some additional coverage for long stays like Brazil.

Peps congratulations on great outcomes at the show! And Diane, congratulations on scoring free ice cream. Winning all around :)

Paula, looks like you've made the most of your trip to LaCross. We spent a weekend there, and found it gone very scenic. I've always meant to visit 4 Sisters Winery.

CC, are you in route to Michigan?

I know Ann and Ocean Diane check in from time to time. We haven't heard from Miss150 for quite awhile. Missing your updates. And as always, miss hearing from Shirl, but understand she is very busy with work and all the care she lavishes on her family.

I'm overly proud of myself that we decided to go see a movie yesterday when I was planning to work out, but I worked out in the evening instead. DH came with me, so we had a post movie date :) We saw The Life of Chuck. I would highly recommend it. Thought provoking and ultimately uplifting.

After the rain yesterday, today is absolutely gorgeous. Sunny, low humidity, low 80s. I am sacked out in my porch chair, ready to make my way through the NYT Sunday paper. Later on, off to see Cabaret. The theater had opened a pop up bar named after the club in the musical: The Kit Kat Bar. You know we're going to check it out!

Last full day in Barcelona. Yesterday's bus riding was disappointing but we enjoyed walking around the Gothic quarter again last night. Definitely our favorite part of the city.

Today everything is closed until after lunch since it is Sunday, so we will have a leisurely brunch after a walk, then we have a tour at the Sagrada Familia at 1:30. If we still have energy we might try to tour the Cathedral of Barcelona afterwards. A possible walk this morning is to the Diving pool from the 92 Olympics.

Hopefully SIL has her procedure this morning and it makes her comfortable enough to fly home in 3-4 days (that is the recovery time in the hospital afterwards).

I had forgotten when I responded to DD yesterday that one of the things we had looked for in choosing our Medigap plans was coverage in foreign countries. It is not available on Advantage plans. The Medigap coverage has either coinsurance and/or a deductible and a lifetime cap, so in the future it might be wise for us to get travel insurance.

Have a satisfactory Sunday!

Congratulations on a great weekend for Buster! I would have had the caramel too.

So weird to be an entire 9 hours time difference from you (and 6 hours from the east coast of the US). Poland (tomorrow to Friday) will be the same time zone as here, then London (Friday to Tuesday day) will be 5 hours from the east coast.

Poor Tesla! So tough on them. Justice is like that with thundery rainstorms but fine with fireworks for some reason.

I did not. But will most likely buy the insurance for the next trip. We will get the medical insurance for Ron, no matter what. With his chronic kidney disease, it's important that he has the good insurance that covers pre existing conditions.

Tired, tired from a long day of showing. As Diane said, Buster was a star today, as he was yesterday. Yesterday he won the regular terrier group and then today the owner handled division best in show. Whoo hooo....

Was GREAT to see Diane S.!!!! And yes, the dog club hosted locally made ice cream in the most delicious waffle cones. Diane and I had caramel ice cream. My friend David had the cookies and cream. Deelish!

Buster is crashed on the bed and I am not far behind...

Sweet dreams to anyone still up (which I doubt). Though Liz might be just getting up. It's 6:30 am in Barthelona!
