Hi there, This is my story :)
In 2002 my weight was the heaviest that I had ever been 118kg and decided that I would have a Lap Band, which was done by Ian Baxter in Buderim, on the sunshine coast.
Other surgery's seem  way too serious and there wasn't any surgeons close by too do a sleeve or bypass. I eventually lost 18kg getting too 100kg, over a period of a couple of years.
After having a baby I had noticed that I could now eat a lot more than previous and was starting to get allot or reflux. I had gone for a fill with still no avail, my weight had now crept up to 107 kg , I soon discovered that my band had slipped and would eventually need replacing or removal....which in my mind wasn't an option, as I had heard so many stories that the second bands didn't seem to work as good as the first? and I wasn't happy with the amount of weight loss to begin with...... so after much contemplating I decided that I would have a sleeve or bypass.
After talking with Phillip Lockie in Brisbane I decided that a Gastric Bypass was right for me. It meant 1 operation not 2 (1 to remove the band and another 3 months later to do a sleeve)
So on the 30 of April I had my OP, all went extremely well I was at home 4 days later I had no complications and I recovered very quickly. The hardest thing that I remember was the disgusting protein drinks .
It is now August ....4 months later and I have lost 15 kg!!! so that means I have 12 to go...as I am wanting to be 80kg or less 70 would be ideal?? But my weight loss has been quite slow in the last 1-2 months and I think I will have to get my bum out walking now, to loss the rest!
My surgeon Dr Phillip Lockie and his team have been awesome, always there to support me, and to give advise, they run a support group which is very inspiring and helpful with my many questions that I had. so far I would am totally happy with this surgery and my surgeon.  My only regret is that I had the band to begin with, (as now I have a bigger pouch than if I had of just gone straight for bypass surgery from the begining.)
