I had lap band surgery in November of 2004.  Everything went smoothly for about 16 months.  I had lost a total of 110 pounds, then I developed a severe case of acid reflux which damaged my esophagus.  The only way to correct the problem was to have revision surgery.  In April of 2006, I had the smaller lap band that I originally received replaced by a larger lap band.  I took medication and solved my acid reflux problem, but I started to gain weight.  That coupled with having to take steroids for 3 months really derailled my weight loss efforts.  I gained 50 pounds back.  It is much harder to lose weight with the larger band.  I can still eat a lot of food and I am adjusted up to 9cc's.  The band is a 10 cc band.  I am back on that yoyo dieting cycle.  I still exercise 5-6 days a week and I have cravings again for junk food.  I wish now that I would have opted to get another smaller band.

I know that part of my eating problem now is because I am depressed about having regained the weight.  I will diet and lose 5 pounds and have a couple of bad days and gain them back again.  But, I am not going to let this get the best of me.  I go to the doctor next week and I will get another fill.  My goal is to get back into my clothes by June, 2007.  I was down to a size 14 and I am back up to a size 18.  I originally started out as a size 26/28.

I am still having problems losing the weight that I regained.  I am still wearing a size 18/20.  I'm doing great maintaining the weight that I kept off.  I recently had another fill and I will see how that will affect my weight.  I feel the restriction and I'm trying to eat the right foods, but it is totally different from the first time around.  With this recent fill, some of the cravings are gone again.  I plan to work hard in 2008 to get back to a size 14.  This just proves that this is a life long battle.
