I have thought about WLS on and off for the last year or so. I am like most people here at OH. I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. I finally scheduled a consultation with Dr. Rod on 4/19/06. I went for my psych. evaluation on 4/27 and my cardio testing on 5/2. Then on 5/11, I got the call from the doctors office. I'M APPROVED. I have my surgery on 7/17. I am so greatful that this has been this easy. I was prepared for a long drawn out approval process. I have read so many profiles on OH and have cringed at some of the things that pre-op hopefuls have had to go through. Now I am thrilled that I opted for the more expensive tier one insurance plan at work. My journey begins.............

After a little date confusion, I received my second approval letter from the insurance company yesterday. My surgery is scheduled for 7/17/06. I have been lurking on the OH boards and the information and support from the members is unbelievable. I feel like I know what to expect when I finally have the surgery.

Long time since I updated. I had my Lap RNY on 7/17/06 and came through the surgery with out any complications. On my 3 week visit I told Dr Rod that I thought I was the "Poster Child" for WLS. I have not had any problem. I have been able to get all of my protein and water in every day since my surgery. I am exercising everyday. I have not been sick but one time and that was my fault. I ate too much and threw up. That taught me the limits of my pouch and I don't push it anymore.I only spent 2 days in the hospital and I slept most of the time I was there. I had my surgery on Monday and by Thursday I was completely off all pain meds. I did not sleep in a recliner and spent the first night home, sleeping in my bed...on my side. I did use a body pillow for support. Now, just under 5 weeks since my surgery, I am down 24-1/2 pounds and feeling great. Why did I put this info in my profile? Because, if there are pre-ops reading my profile I want them to know that there are some post-ops that have not had any problems at all. I am thrilled I had this surgery and I can't wait to loose more weight. I forgot to mention, in less than 2 weeks after surgery, I was off my BP medicine and my BP has remained excellent!

Long time with out an update. I am now down almost 75 pounds. I have been in a stall for the last two weeks but I am continuing to eat right and drink my water. I am also walking 3 miles every day. I have gone from a tight 20 pants to a snug, but wearable, size 12. I have lost over 10 inches from my fanny. I have not had any problems with my surgery but I did had a bout with food poisoning and spent a week in the hospital because I could not keep anything down. This was in no way related to my surgery. Would I do it again?.....in a heartbeat! This surgery was the best thing I could have done for myself.
