I am 48 years old, married to the most amazing man for 20 & 1/2 years, with two teenage sons. I was born and raised in the panhandle of Texas, and have been a RN for almost 26 years. I have been overweight at least since my kids were born, and despite countless attempts to lose weight with any and all weight loss "gimmick", I have actually gradually put on weight. I am 5'2", and at my heaviest (in January '07) I weighed 198. I have researched the various weight loss surgeries, and have decied to have the lap-band. My first serious attempt was last summer, but was denied by my insurance company because I wasn't heavy enough. Ha! I was close enough, nothing that pizza for dinner for a week couldn't fix. (just joking). Well, since then, I have developed several "co-morbidities", so I have decided to have the surgery, whether or not the insurance will pay. To my surprise and delight, they are agreeing to pay. I will have the surgery on Friday, March 30th! I cannot wait to have the surgery and begin this new healthy life.
