Turn of Events

Dec 29, 2009

I went to my regular physican today; the one who refused to help me with weight loss surgery.  He praised my 19 lb. weight loss.  I told him about my Lab Band procedure, and he stated to me he was "glad" I had it done because I was at risk for diabetes.  He just baffled me!  Anyway,  I am proud of the pounds I lost. I will see the surgeon on January 5th.  Hopefully, I will have lost a few more pounds by that time.

Swelling and the Scales

Dec 08, 2009

Thanks to all of you who posted and wished me success and prayed for me.  I had my surgery on December 3rd!  I feel wonderful.  I have taken very little pain medication and nothing for vomiting. I will return to work on Friday if I continue to feel this well.

My stomach was large before I ever had the surgery I must assume it has some swelling.  I am disappointed because I got on the scales and I did not see any weight loss.  I have religiously followed this diet and nothing.  I take a water pill and I just resumed taking it on Saturday.  I believe I missed one day of it.

It has only been broth, jell-o, and popsicles.  I am not hungry.  I am so anxious to see a drop in the scales, not see it go up!

I will see Dr. Hobson on January 5th.

Endoscopy

Dec 01, 2009

Yesterday, my friend and I traveled to Atlanta for my endoscopy. I was a little concerned because I was going under anesthesia.  I just said a silent prayer and was at peace.  I had come to far to back out.
I was under the impression on of the surgeon from the practice would perform this procedure; however, he did not show up.  In the end it really did not matter because I received excellent care.  I even got a call from the nurse today to see how I was feeling.   This journey continues.

Nervous

Nov 25, 2009

11-25-09

My surgery date is fast approaching.  I am both excited and scared.  The surgeon was nice and used a model to explain the procedure to me.  He told me if I followed the plan I could take of 150.

I did not realize I would spend the entire morning and most of the afternoon in there. It was a long and tiring day.  Then I had the 4 hour drive back home.  Isaac, my son, was my backbone.  He was my navigator.  Bless his heart.

Overall, I know I've made the right decision.  However, I wonder if I should chosen Gastric Bypass instead of the Lap Band.  Part of me wants to see the weight come off quicker, but the other part says slow and steady.
