About me...ok. I am 30 and I have an 8 year old son that turns 9 in July. I am married to a wonderful man and have been over weight most of my life. I was always a little chunkier than my friends but nothing crazy, until I got pregnant. I gained weight so fast but my doctor didnt seem concerned. I found out later he had cancer and probably wasnt fully committed to my care. I gained 100 lbs while pregnant and my son was 9lbs 5 ozs but a very healthy baby. He is super skinny now because he is so active. A few years after he was born, I started putting all efforts towards weight loss. I walked, ate better, and went to the gym several times a week. The weight came off but only about 5lbs a month and about 2 months in I started having severe pain in my hips. I went to several doctors and it took a year but I was finally diagnoised, it was PCOS. The doctor told me it would make it harder to loose weight and that it would be much harder to have children. He gave me Metformin and sent me on my way. The medicine gave me terrible headaches and I quit taking it. I had pretty much given up and tried to just be happy with myself. On Feb. 12, 2015 my whole life changed. My husband was told he had Hodjkins Lymphoma, a blood cancer. We had closed on a house two days before. Stress wasnt a big enough word for what we were going through and about three months in, I had a panic attack. First of a few. After about 8 months of Chemo they finally told him his scan was clean. Three months later they said he was considered 'Cancer Free' and his scans have been clean sense. Something like that really puts life into perspective. I have been determined to get healthy ever sense. This year is the first year our insurance will cover VSG and I have surgery 3/30. I am so excited!! I will try to keep this part updated!
