Robert Quinlin

"My surgeon was Dr. Quinlin out at Shadyside Hospital. When I first started seeing him I was kind of worried as his office visits (2 to be exact) were rather short. I had thought they would take about a half hour, but in reality I was only in there for 5 or 10 minutes at the most. I had almost thought of changing surgeons, but my PCP highly recommended him and since I trust my PCP with my life, I decided to give him a chance. I can honestly say that I am glad I stuck with him. He has proven to be very caring and has concerned himself with every step of my new adventure. His office staff (especially Sue) is great! They are always helpful with questions I might have and are very supporting. I had a lot of complications after the surgery and Dr. Quinlin and his office were always there for me when I needed help. I knew I could call him at anytime, even on days he was in surgery all day, and he would call me back that same day. Sometimes he even called in the evening which I knew had to be "after hours". He is very straight forward and I don't honestly know if it was his policy or my insurances policy, but I didn't have to go through any of the pre-surgery requirements that so many people have to. I didn't have a Psych-eval or have to see a nutritionist. I didn't have to go on a "Doctor supervised diet" for any length of time before approval either. Although I think seeing a nutritionist before surgery is a good idea, I found that any questions I had in this matter were either answered by Dr. Quinlin or by the nutritionist out at Shadyside to my satisfaction. Dr. Quinlin gives you a structured guideline that gives you examples of what to eat and when to eat during each Phase after surgery. On this guideline is the name and number of a nutritionist that you can call with questions. Overall I would have to say that what he may lack in pre-op length of visits, he makes up for post-op. He has a very nice bedside manner and has an accent that is very charming. I could sit and listen to him talk for 24 hours a day!!! I don't think you would be disappointed if you were to choose him as a physician. Just keep in mind he is not a real talkative person, saying just what he needs to say, but if you come in with questions, then he will take the time to answer all of them. "
