David Simonowitz

"My first appointment with him was right after this big earthquake we had. I was in such a hurry to get to the office, I never even knew there was an earthquake (until I asked why the elevators weren't working). I had to climb five flights of stairs with bronchitis and arthritis but I was determined to get there. He was performing a surgical procedure and did not evacuate, and then came in to see me. I liked him right away as he is very direct and answered all my questions. I came well prepared, armed with info. I told him specifically I did not want a distal RNY because of the complications. He explained he only did short limb proximals. He is very direct and does not pussy-foot around. Some may take that as rudeness, but I got along with him just fine. His info packet has improved and he has begun to hand out information from the support group I started for his patients. I strongly suggest researching the procedure and aftercare thoroughly and ask plenty of questions. It's important to have a good PCP for lifelong after care. He is an excellent surgeon and came highly recommended by several in the medical community. He really goes to bat for his patients. He is more cautious than most with the post-op diet, as he wants you on pureed foods for three months, to give the pouch time to heal. Most of his patients don't seem to have the same issues as others who have real food sooner. "

Carbolite Chocolate Bars

"All of the varieties are excellant. If you are avoiding sugar and carbs and need a chocolate fix, these are fabulous. They even have their version of Milky Way, 100,000 Grand, Snickers, etc. You can have problems if you eat too much, as they have a laxitive effect. If you can't tolerate fat, these could make you dump."

Pro Performance® 100% Whey Protein- Chocolate Supreme

"I like GNC because if you get tired of the flavor, or just don't like it, they will exchange it for free. I use 1.5 scoops of powder with 4 oz of water and add DaVinci's sugar-free syrup to cover up the slight after taste."
