Got to the hospital to see Diane. What a difference a couple of days makes. She had the NG tube removed and is eating some ice chips. Got to see her lovely smile and hear that smiley voice saying how much better she feels compared to the day after surgery. Says she has no appetite. Of course not her digestive system is not fully operational but is getting there. Her frame of mind is super. She is looking forward to getting home and back to her painting. We talked abit about what it will be like the first week home and she seemed excited to learn how to eat so little. I am sure that she will do very well and will soon be looking and feeling much better.

Visited with Diane today and she looks, well, like she just had open rny surgery the day before. She has had some pain but that was because the iv line got kinked. She is up in a chair and doing well. Felt tired and weak as expected. Her spirits are pretty good considering how she feels and she can't wait til they give her some ice chips. Says the wet swabs they gave her just don't to the trick for keeping the mouth and throat wet. She smiled because she knows that she is now on the road to being a healthier woman.

Talked with Diane's husband Bob a few minutes ago. She made it through the "Grand Opening" as she called the RNY in great shape. As one would expect she is a bit uncomfortable and sleepy. I will be visiting her tomorrow afternoon and will post again after my visit.
