WENDY~~ WELCOME TO THE AMOS BOARD~~ I had complications, so I was out of work longer than the average. May the light always find you on a dreary day. When you need to be home, may you find your way. May you always have courage to take a chance, and never find frogs in your underpants

Heya Wendy, I was 220lbs and 5ft 2in tall when I had my Lap RNY done on July 24 of this year. I am now 3.5 months out and have lost 57lbs, and 41 inches. This surgery is a God Send! I would do it again in a heartbeat. Check out my profile http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=b1008762574 Dee in Az

Aloha Wendy!! Welcome to AMOS!! As far as my own experience goes, I had Open RNY so my circumstances are a slight bit different but I did have friends who have had Lap and I can share their experiences as well. I stayed in the hospital for five days total. My hospital's protocol was that I had to stay in ICU for the first 2 days then go to the ward. All went well. As far as returning to work, I had a lot of illness leave on the books so I opted to take 7 weeks, HOWEVER, I felt pretty good after the second week and could have gone back to work then if push came to shove. It all depends on the type of work that you do. I have a desk job...so it would have been easy enough for me to return at two weeks. My LAP RNY friends shared they were in the hospital for anywhere from 3-5 days. Most were back to work from 3-6 weeks. It is an individual thing. I would say most returned to their normal daily routines within 3 weeks on the average. Hope this helps!! Good luck on your journey!!! This was the best thing I have ever done for myself. It still amazes me every day!! Hugs, Kathie (in Hawaii)... Open RNY/08-07-02/Down 86 Pounds!!
