I am 7 months post op today. I have lost a total of 82 lbs. I weighed 180lb this morning. Time has gone by so fast. I was reading a new friends profile today and could remember feeling the same anxiousness and nervousness awaiting surgery. Now I here I am 7 most post op and down 82 whopping pounds. That is a sheer miracle to me. I feel so much better about myself. My only regret is that I did not do it SOONER. I am going on 35 yrs old and I am really just now starting to LIVE. Best of Luck to ALL who are embarking on this endeavor!!! And for those of you already on the losing side...AINT THIS GREAT? :-)

It has been such a long time since I have posted on this page. I know that people like to see how other folks are doing AFTER surgery, so I wanted to make a posting. It has been 20 weeks since my surgery. I have lost a total of 63 pounds!!! My first goal was to be under 200 lb. I met that goal the other day. I am a fanatic when it comes to weighing myself. I do it several times a day. Once I am under 200 lb each time I step on the scale in ONE day I will actually feel under 200 lb. Right now I am like 198 in the morning and then by evening I am at 202. I try to tell myself not to weigh so often. For me I think it is a reassurance thing. I have to keep seeing for myself that I am actually indeed losing weight. But this surgery is an amazing tool. I am so thankful that I was able to do it. I am not stuck with the feeling of I am going to be fat for the rest of my life. Being overweight is a very miserable feeling if you dont like it and accept it about yourself. I thought that once I could accept myself the way I was then maybe I would have success in taking some of the weight off. I never could accept myself that way. I just couldn't. So, therefore, I just kept gaining. I reached 287 when I delivered my 2nd child in May '01. I weighed 250 lb at 15 yrs old. I can not even imagine how many thousands of pounds I have gained and lost and gained again. This surgery is really a miracle in my life. For those who are considering it and reading this post I want you to know that you are headed in the right direction. Keep reading all you can about the surgery itself, the after care and other stories of people who stepped out on faith and did it. It is usually a long journey from beginning to surgery, but once you have surgery and get home the time flies. I can't believe that it has been 5 months since mine. And I have lost 63 pounds!!! That is just amazing. Well this has turned into a very long entry so I better say adios for now.

Hi Tonia, I just checked your profile, and wanted to give you a big hug. I know what it's like to be a single mom, and want to throw in the towel some times. You're doing well, I'm so glad to hear. Hang in there with your little one. Tell the 16 year old to help more. Mine helped, but left a lot to my mom too. My husband had to work. I wish you all the best! Just wait, the best comment my 15 year old said was, "Hey mom, I can hug all the way around you now." My 3 year old said in a resturant the other day, "Mommy, you're not fat". That blew me away! He's so observant. Take care Des

I am one week post op and feeling better everyday. I have lost 11 1/2 lbs in one week!!! I went to full liquids lastnight because I was so hungry. I was'nt expecting to feel hunger at all. Especially in the first week. Since I went to full liquids I feel much more satisfied and nourished and it lasts longer. I am so happy and proud of myself for making this decision to have wls. I believe this is the best thing I have ever done for myself and my daughters.
