Hey Everyone!!! It is me, Nita! I am now 7 days post-op (yes, one looooong week ago today), and this has been a really tough week. I came home from the hospital on Saturday evening, and was miserable at first, but I am finding new ways of doing the simple things, like sponge bathing, and sleeping. I think the only thing that I have really had a hard time with is sleeping. I am use to sleeping on my stomach, and when I sleep flat on my back, my left leg goes numb. I guess when I get some of these attachments removed on Thursday at my follow-up visit, I might be able to get around a little better. Coughing was also a very bad thing for me. The Dr had me in tears the day after my surgery, by making me cough. I had a hard time with the pain meds for the first 24 hrs, and got hardly anything for pain, so I was pretty miserable for the first day or so. I appreciate the phone calls, and the support that I have gotton from my friends, not only from this site, but from the Dr's office also. You guys have been great! If you have any tricks or good recipes to make the protein powders taste any better, please send them to me! I am having a really rough time with that. Other than that my liquid diet is going ok! I will try to update again in a few days! Thanks guys!

I am not Anita's angel but I have an update on her. Her surgery was yesterday morning. I spoke with her this afternoon and she is doing great. She has been up walking and sitting up in bed. She said today it alot better than yesterday. Congratulations, Anita.

Anita, Good luck on your surgery. I am also a patient of Dr. Appel's. I am still waiting on approval from my insurance company. Congratulations on your decision! Hope to see you on the losing side.
