Charea I have been told drinks are ok at about 6 months post-op. Very limited of course.Alo beer does have carbonation so be careful with thhat. Good luck God Bless, Nicole.

Charea, you're a lady after my own heart!! I only waited 3 weeks before I had a glass of wine. It went down better than food!! I had asked my doctor about drinking after surgery. His only advise was to take it slow and not overdo it. I usually stick to 1 to 1 1/2 glasses and really at most drink once a week. Best wishes to you!

hi charea, my advise is..CALL AND/OR GO TO YOUR DOCTOR OR HOSPITAL.. i am pre op,but i have read so many times about the possibility of blood clots..i am worried about you..please call your surgeon.. i will pray that you are a-ok..please post again and let us know how you are doing.. i wish you the very best ... take great care, jeanne/ca...lap rny 1-16-03

Charea, you should check with your husband's current insurance company and see if they will allow you to continue with Cobra. Sometimes if you change insurance companies on a group plan, you can keep the existing for up to 18 months, even if you remain employed. You may be forced to pay the entire amount for it, (his employer not paying thier portion) but if you can do this for a few months... It's worth a try to call them and see. Michelle

Hang in there, it may feel like the end, but there is ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes the tunnel is just a little longer than expected. We are all thinking about you!

Hi Charea. I won't say that I can relate because I can't really. Although I had a little bump in my road with the surgeon I initially chose, I was able to choose another and it's been so much better for me. I received approval from my insurance company on 11/15 and am scheduled for surgery on 11/26. My request was submitted on 9/27. I was blessed. I just want you to know that you will be blessed, too. How do I know? Because it is what the Creator intends. I believe that. I don't think we work and work for nothing. I think when we make an effort the Creator paves out way to make it easier for us. Maybe, since this person in the doctor's office is so offensive, you should see another doctor. Is your current PCP with Humana? Is the surgeon you currently see with Humana? Is this an HMO plan? If so, is there a transition of care program? That is when the insurance company allows you to continue to see a nonparticipating provider because to stop would hinder your health. You may have something in that. Please check into it. I want this for you. It will happen. Keep your head up. I know that's a tall order, but I also know you can do it. You've come this far. On a positive note with Humana, they were actually quite fast with approving me for surgery. Hang in there don't give up!!!!@
