Dear Venus...chiming in early (so I don't forget) and wishing you a Happy 1st Anniversary of your Re-birthday! How's that for a mouthful?! Such a beautiful group of people in your picture on your profile. Got those good genes running in the family. I wish you the best year ever...you obviously are doing fabulously. Love and hugs, Joy

Hi Venus! I just put my email address back on my profile pages, so I never knew you posted to my surgery page until just today, when I was notified someone posted. I saw your post then. Honey, how are you? You've done great...surpassed me...I'm only down 97 lbs. Can't get those pesky last 20 lbs. off for the life of me. Thanks for saying hello. Hugs, Joy

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to let you all know that I am doing good - each day is better and I am thankful that I made it to the other side without any complications other than the pain of the actual surgery. Thank goodness for the morphine pump! I did have a reaction to the morphine - it made me itch and so each time I pressed the pump I had to have a benadryl shot - by the time I left the hospital, I looked like a pin cushion. My stay in ICU was wonderful, the nursing staff was great - it felt like I was in a great hotel! In my opinion, the nurses don't get enough credit for all that they do! Shout out to the nurses at South San Francisco Kaiser! My surgeon, Dr. Gorrin, did a great job too! My incision doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Now I have good days and I have not so good days - some days I feel like I could run a marathon and other days, just drying off after my shower takes all my energy - I just need to learn to balance what all I do. When I talked to my angel Joy, she told me that it sounded like I was trying to do too much - so this week I have definitely slowed down, but I keep thinking I should do more. When I hear of others doing so much more, you can't help but compare yourself to them, which I know we should not do. But this is a learning process and each day brings its own challenges. Sorry this post is so long, but I just wanted to stop by and say "I'm back and I made it" and to give thanks to all of you who kept me warm in their hearts, especially my angel Joy ~ Until next time, take care of yourselves ~ Venus

***Angel Report*** I spoke to Venus around 1:00pm and she was up sitting in a chair. She felt good, a little "burpy", but I know from experience that that will go away soon. She had been up walking and had even confiscated a walker and parked it in her room! She was waiting for Dr. Gorrin to see her and give her orders for cath removal, shower, and Stage II diet. She said she was ready to go home "now", but I told her she still had a few things to get done first. Most probably she'll be released to go home tomorrow. It was great to hear her voice and she was in good spirits, joking away. You made it sweetie! Hugs, Joy

***Angel Report*** Our Venus is out of surgery and resting in the ICU at Kaiser So. San Francisco. I had to say I was her "adopted sister" to get any information (I actually got the idea from Venus when she was calling for info on ME two weeks ago). She does have some pain but has been given her pain medication (morphine pump) to take care of that. She'll be in the ICU overnight. All praise and thanks goes to the Master Physician for bringing her though okay. More later...Hugs, Joy
