Glenn Lytle

"4/15/02 (Tax Day!) I had surgery on 1/16/02 and all went well. Dr. Lytle continued to be wonderful. I had a problem with outlet stoma swelling (which occurs about 2% of the time, lucky me) and really didn't fell well because I couldn't keep anything down. Dr. Lytle came to see me several times a day, would sit down in the room and explain everything, and even told me he called his mentor (another bariatric surgeon) just to check on what he was doing and to make sure there wasn't something else we could or should be doing. It impressed me that he would say he "didn't know" something. He also brought his wife to meet my Mother-in-law and me. She is also a nurse and I thought that was pretty cool. I was discharged on 1/23/02 and went back to Cleveland on 1/26/02 to have my staples removed. That was a Saturday and he met me at his office so my husband wouldn't have to take another day off from work. I have not had to return to see him, we do our "follow-up" over the phone. He trusts my judgement as a nurse that I'm "okay" or not. Last month I felt so draggy and he got my GYN physician to do some lab work when I went for my annual exam so I wouldn't have to go back to Cleveland. My lab was fine so we discussed things to try. Once again, I find myself trying to find a negative about him and it just isn't there. I would still recommend him even though I didn't like the hospital. See my review of it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 01/14/02 Met with Dr. Lytle and his nurse Trudy on 01/8/02. They are wonderful. Dr. Lytle knew I am a nurse and he made the session very comfortable. Pulled out info he thought I might not know about obesity and the studies that have been done. My 14 year old son, Jordan, was with me and Dr. Lytle was very nice to him. Asked him questions and treated him like an adult. That was very important to him. Dr. Lytle stressed that he could tell I had great family support since my son was there and he had done a great deal of reading on the surgery and recovrey. Jordan said he felt so much better after being there and meeting the doctor. He finally admitted he was a bit nervous about the surgery. The one thing that impressed both of us the most (besides is credentials) was that he was very compassionate about my weight loss attempts in the past and spent a great deal of time going over each one and bring out the positive things I had done. I guess he just made me feel great about the fact that I was not a "Failure" but I needed this tool to make all the things I know about diet and nutrition work. He was very frank about the risks, especially that death is an issue. He also went into a lot of the complications that don't go as far as death but can be an ongoing problem. He did stress that aftercare is everything. They have a structured program but I am 4 hours away so won't be able to participate as I would like. He and his nurse are willing to help those of us from this area seek other group opportunities to maintain our focus! I'm trying to think of a negative but I can't seem to come up with anything. He was kind, informative, covered all my questions before I asked them. I just wish he was closer to Austin! I would recommend him to anyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12/3/01 Have not met Dr. Lytle in person. Have spoken to his staff and communicated by E-mail. Everyone has been very nice and Janet from the office E-mailed me his picture so I could put a face with the name."

Carnation Instant Breakfast

"After trying other protein drinks, it's the only one I can get down. I add 1/3C of dry non-fat milk with the 8oz skim milk to increase the protein by 8gm. It doesn't make it too thick and then you have 20gm of protein."
