7/14/03 well sorry so long since my last entry but life is real busy these days. I'm 5 months out and I've lost 70 pounds and 64 3/4 inches. down 5 sizes from a 22 to a 14 and still going. for the first time in my life i weigh less than my oldest daughter. did i forget to mention she is 8 months pregnant with my first grandson!! i'm recovering from hernia repair surgury of 4 days ago but it was an old hernia that bulged out real bad since i've lost weight, not related to the surgury. i feel like a new person!! if my weight loss stopped right here i would still have had the wls. i love my dr. and i love all the attention i get. people thought my husband got a girlfriend cause they didn't recognize me. if you are thinking about this surgury you already know the answer to should i or not is yes. and don't think about doing it for anyone but yourself. you will never regret it. i will gladly talk to anyone that has questions. i love the new me!!!!!!

Hi Cathy, I'm 9 days out from open RNY. Feeling good overall - a little sore but not as bad as I thought I would be. I'm amazed. I'm scheduled to get my staples out today (not looking forward to that). I read your profile and I felt the same way you did at the first meeting. I was one of the smaller people there. I felt kind of funny. What was worse was when I was telling people I was getting the surgery I had so many people tell me I wasn't big enough for it! I felt like they were telling me I was doomed to stay forever in the 'fat but not fat enough' category where my health and my quality of life was affected but there was nothing I could do about it. You know - we have tools - but not for you. I'm glad I listened to myself instead of others and had it done anyways. How's everything going for you? Are you enjoying the post-op diet? I'm so tired of juice, broth and jello already. Althouth I did graduate to a scrambled egg yesterday - it tasted really good too. The protein drinnks aren't too bad. But between the protein drinks and the meals I feel like I'm constantly eating or drinking. And I'm not hungry at all. I can't believe I haven't been hungry once in 9 days! Take care and let me know how things are going with you. Kathy

Cathy, best wishes to you for an uneventful surgery and a recovery thats as quick and painfree as possible. This is a quote from my grandmothers favorite book she gave me as a gift. "But if in your thought you must measure time into seasons, let each season encircle all the other seasons, and let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing" (Kahil Gibran)
