"Dr. Ortiz was very handsome, personable and capable. I met him the day prior to my surgery, but we had corresponded via e-mail previously. He has alot of experience performing lap band surgery and is an international proctor instructing surgeons in the how to's of lap band surgery. He also conducts ongoing research concerning the placement of the band and its relationship to success rates. I felt like I was in very good hands, but I was not thrilled with the hospital where the procedure was done. It was in disrepair and was not up to par with hospitals in the U.S. The staff was as caring as could be expected, since they spoke little to no English. There were quite a few mix-ups with taxis, hospital vans and other transportation due to the language differences. My reason for going to Tijuana was for Dr. Ortiz to perform my surgery and I was more than pleased with the results."
