It is a very structured process. He has a Bariatric coordinator that handle all of his up front work. You have to attend support group meetings, psychological evaluation, sleep study, psychological weekend seminar, a written essay on your understanding of the process. After all of this is done your file is sent to his office and they fight the insurance battle befor you even get an appt for the DR. You may think this is strange, but it minimizes your time and his.
