Hello everyone. I went this evening and met Stacie for the first time. Her surgery was yesterday 10-3. She is wonderful fun lady. She is in alot of pain and the morphine is causing her to be extremely itchy. The hospital staff is trying to combat that side effect with medication but poor Stacie wants a back scratcher...LOL....She has developed pneumonia in one of her lungs and her doctor (Dr. Roll)is also treating her for that. She seemed in good spirits all in all and was thrilled because this evening her parents sent her a beautiful bouquet of flowers. One thing she mentioned was the fact that this length of time without her internet access is going to get on her nerves...LOL.. She got to take a walk today and for many thats a scary feeling. The first walk can seem so overwhelming. When i came in her friend Caroline was with her and she seems very supportive. We all need that when it comes to the times when we feel "less than powerful". Her room seemed to buzz with nurses and as i was about to leave she had more visitors arrive to see her. She will be moving to a private room sometime tonight. She mentioned that she had heard from a few of the WLS members on this site(sorry!! i didnt catch all the names). I know she appreciates all of your support. Stacie is a cool person and i look forward to getting to know her better in the future. ((((((hugs for Stacie)))))

UPDATE ON STACIE: I just called this evening 7pm and she sounds as if she's getting some very effective drugs...LOL I also just found this email on another list I'm on from Romona Clark. I am sooooo glad Romona was able to be there. :) Romona writes: Good Afternoon everyone - God is truly good! I was able to go and be with Stacie this morning, she is doing great as far as being prepared for the surgery such as paper work, test, etc. but she is a bit down because her family was not able to be here. I stayed with her until the point when the Dr. came in for the 2nd time, to prepare her IV. She was about 5 min. from being taking into the "Great room of Change".   It was actually our first time meeting, and I was so glad that I did, I have never done anything like that before but she really needed someone, we laughed alot, she shared alot, and she was thankful someone came. I plan on visiting her tomorrow morning as well as in the afternoon. She does need alot of support and the best support she could get outside of her family is the support of a Christian family. I think that it is a wonderful idea to send her your cards and letters - for Stacie it will make all the difference in the world - she said she may be in the hospital until about Fri. I will keep you all posted. Be blessed and have a highly effective day! RaMona

I am wishing you the very best of luck with your surgery and letting you know you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I will be having my surgery on 9/18 and am so excited. Remember to say a little prayer, turn it all over to the Good LORD and then have faith, then all you have to do is enjoy the new life you have chosen to give yourself. Way to go we are going to do GREAT. ....^j^.....
