"Professional and serious. He answered all my questions even if I ask the same questions twice. I do not know if I will see him before the surgery. His staff is great! They were able to be more personable as some of them have had the surgery. One of my concerns was having the surgery at my age. Most everyone I talked to about this surgery were younger. They were able to introduce me to someone my age. She looks fantastic! And she was more than 5yrs post-op! Dr Bistolarides is not Mr. personality. At first I thought he was bored or didn't like this part of his job. He was very through and patient with me. He made sure I understood what he can do and what the risk were. He and his staff stressed the importance of the aftercare. I was able to relax more with his staff. I know when I go for my appointment on Jan. 10th. I will have a much better understanding about the aftercare program. This is a serious opporation and the same risk are involved as with any abdominal surgery. Blood clots, leaks and hernias were some of the risk he talked about. I have noone to compare him with but he was very through in his explanation of the surgical procedure and the expertise of his staff. Sugical competence is better, however,in this day and age sometimes surgical competence is all about money and the bedside manners reveals a personal side that lets you feel he is human too. "
