"Dr. betcher was a very serious stern Man. He wanted me to know how serious a commitment i was making and to be equally serious about it. I Believe he cares deeply for the patiens he sees and wants them the reap the most benifits that they can from their surgery. His program is very detailed and helps you through the weeks following surgery step by step. I liked him very much. Unfortunately he has retired. The Tempus program in Fresno CA. is still available to patients and I would recommend it over any other program I have heard about. There are several other Doctors in the group, still there, to help patients get started and to follow the very same program that I have. They have a five year follow up program. After the first one month check up you go every three months, I believe for a year. I have my next visit next week. (2-4-04). They keep an eye on you for five years and encourage you to come back for blood tests every year after that. There are qualified people in the office to answer any questions you might have. There is a Tempus group on line that also helps you stay in touch with other people who have had the surgery with this group of Dr.s and we help eachother out with answers and discussions about simple problems we might have. There are monthly support group meetings in Fresno and Bakersfield as well as several coastal locations. I was well informed about the risks of the surgery, but felt they were worth taking as my life had very little meaning for me at 286 pounds. I could barely walk and needed to work. I am able to get around to do my jobs. Surgical competence was superior and bedside manner was fine. I needed a tough Doctor to keep me on task. I will aslways be very greatful to Dr. Betcher for the new life he has given me."
