Richard Tillquist

"<font size=-1> Dr. Tillquist was very factual and answered all my questions thoroughly. He explained his experience (about 150 lap procedures as of 4/9/02) with maybe two more serious complications (obstructions) that were corrected and no deaths. He did explain that the obstructions are unpredictable and based on how individual people heal after the surgery and therefore I did not consider them a reflection of his skill. Gini scheduled me fairly quickly and all I have to do is follow up by getting some supporting letters faxed to him to include in my packet. All I can do now is wait for approval. I am very confident about his skill and was fairly pleased with his bedside manner. The one thing that I would tell future patients is that your recovery is very dependent on your compliance with what Dr. Tillquist and Kelly (the nutritionist) tell you to do. Even if there are individual problems (obstructions, problem swallowing, etc.) it is up to YOU to be assertive with Dr. T and his staff and make sure he understands how sick you are. With so many surgeries under his belt he does not panic easily and will make you follow certain procedures before he thinks of your case as an emergency. If you follow his instructiosn you will probably be able to get through it without any additional care. Just my advice, your mileage may vary. </font>"

Tropical Oasis Multi Vitamin/Mineral

"Maybe others like this taste, but to me it tasted like some juice that had gone bad. I don't deny that the product seems to be great in delivering the vitamins and minerals, I am just not impressed by its delivery system. I do love their Calcium Magnesium though."

Tropical Oasis Liquid Calcium Citrate

"It has a nice orange-like citrus taste and seems to go down really well. My nutritionist said though that since the total dosage (1 tablespoon) gives you 1200 grams at once, it would be better to take it 3 times daily (1 teaspoon each time) since the body can only absorb about 500 grams each time. Vitamin D and Magnesium are included."

Tammy Swagler

"Tammy is a nurse practicioner for Dr. Robert Rees-Jones (endocrinologist). Dr. R-J's practice has been repeatedly voted one of the best in the Denver area. I highly recommend it because the staff is friendly and I can vouch for the fact that Tammy is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. When I brought up the issue of WLS she told me that they were treating a recent post-op and that she was doing great. I got a very positive vibe from her. If you want someone really rooting for you on your team, Tammy is it."

Robert Reese-Jones

"His office has been ranked by multiple sources as excellent. I had wonderful care from both Dr. Rees-Jones and his nurse practicioner Tammy Swagler. All his staff is very curteous and understanding. His office is very supportive of WLS surgery."

Porter

"I had visited a friend after her surgery at Swedish and was amazed by the differences. The primary one being that each surgery patient has his or her own room, TV, and heat/cool setting. It's hard to really control your own temp when your door is open most of the time, but it's a start. I was just amazed at the work the folks in 3N do and how respectfully they treated all my requests, no matter how trivial. Since you are alone, they don't really enforce the visiting hours and each room has a direct line phone that anyone can call 24 hours a day. The nurses kept a steady tab on me without being obsessive. I was only woken once or twice a night and fell right back to sleep. Since most of us don't choose our hospitals, I was very lucky to have been forced to go here by my insurance. I would highly recommend it to anyone."

Kelly Elliot

"Even though it sounds impossible for someone to be so knowledgeable and helpful, Kelly has spent over 12 years working directly with Gastric Bypass patients and has seen it all. She is very dedicated and continues to work on acquiring new information to keep herself up to date and also to benefit her patients. She is so trusted that she provides the nutrition course required by most Denver bariatric surgeons before they perform WLS surgery. The support group that Kelly started after requests from her post-op patients is extremely helpful in keeping one motivated and also in preventing small issues from becoming big problems. I highly recommend Kelly and her practice."

Brindah Suresh

"Dr. Suresh is very friendly and is very interested in the welfare of her patients. I was surprised that even though I had changed insurance from a PPO to an HMO that she gave me excellent care and seemed very concerned when I continued to have pain after being treated for a back injury. I guess I was surprised she wanted to spend the money to follow up with a specialist. That made me feel that she really cared about ME.. regardless of the cost."
