"The Pain Management Center is my biggest complaint. They completely botched my epidural which was all I had for pain for the first two day out of surgery. They would not admit that they had erred in the placement of the epidural and it took me two day to convince everyone that I was getting essentially no pain relief. When I finally was put on morphine I explained to the tech from pain management that my relief was coming from the morphine and not from the epidural and he responded with irritation. The following day after having turned the epidural machine off over 12 hours and asking the tech to remove the epidurl catheter from my back he responded in outright anger. I believe he was putting his ego before my comfort. I found several of the CNA to act similarly. I may have been a difficult patient to deal with do to my pain level but that is no excuse for the unprofessional behavior I witnessed while I was there."
"Dr. Deveney seems to be a very kind and companionate surgeon I have only met him 2 times so
far. He asked my why I felt surgery was the best option for me. He was very sympathetic to my
situation and since I had done quite a bit of research before meeting him he did not need to
educate me in many areas, however, he did make sure that I was aware of all the surgical options
and risk factors. I will not see Dr.Deveney again until my surgery on Jan 4. I do not know if he will be handling my care after surgery or not since Portland is a long way to go for checkups and blood tests. Dr.Deveney does not provide any formal aftercare programs. So far I am please
with his manor and competence. The only thing that Does bother me is the lack of an aftercare program or even general information about post operative diet, exercise, etc; this does not reflect on Dr.Deveney however, it is simply is not part of the OHSU program. The office is located at OHSU most of the people I have dealt with there are easy to work with. The receptionist working the desk at the time of my last appointment seemed a little aloof, other than that everyone has been very helpful."
