Hi I am Janis, I live in Cashmere. I am interested in setting up a support group for pre and post op WLS patients in the valley, you would be a welcome addition if you would like to join me and my Sis. I am in the process of trying to get in touch with all the WLS patients in the area to see what kind of interest there might be out there. Do you know of anyone who is considering WLS or is Post Op who might be interested in a local support group? I envision in addition to the moral support and encouragement the opportunity to sample all the bariatric food and supplement products at the group meetings. My sisters biggest post op complaint was finding palatable high protein supplements and vitamins that were actually effective. I also envision the opportunity to compare notes on Doctors who are not only educated in caring for bariatric patients in the long term but also who truly understand what we endure as morbidly obese persons, the prejudice, the mis-conceptions, the ignorance. And who are supportive of bariatric surgery for those people who really do need it. I would like to be able to direct prospective WLS patients to Doctors, Psychologists, Nutritionists, etc who are knowledgeable, skilled, empathetic and supportive of our needs in our quest for healthier bodies and happier lives. I look forward to hearing from you. Janis Hayden [email protected]

Cindy, I am sooo sorry you can not get approved for surgery. just a thought. do you work? Have you considered hunting for an insurance company that does surgery and then looking for an employer to ge the surgery? I have seen where others have changed jobs and within one year were able to qualify for surgery. I know change is awful, especially jobs but you might consider even takeing a low pay enrty level clerical job somewhere jut for the insurance for yourself. It is just a suggestion Good luck to you. We will be on your side on your journey. Lots of hugs Chrisy D

Hi there Cindy, boy do I understand the frustration. I have been denied by Regence Blue Cross... now I am waiting for Health Net to deny me.... Hang in there... contract your state legislature..... keep active in your fight...contact as many State reps as you can... but dont give up..... let them hear your frustration also!!! Karen

I am posting myself, I haven't yet I have just been so depressed, especially when I see that people get approved for surgery, it is just jealousy on my part, not that I'm not happy for everyone that does, just knowing that it will probably never happen for me, exclusion in policy and have exhausted all appeals and have been beaten down with all of the denials.
