Hi Nancy: how far out are you from surgery? I am 6 months out now and I find that socializing helps. Are you a church goer? I am in a singles group in my church and I go to all functions I can handle. I am also a college student and I get alot of human contact with this experience.I am single with a 20 year old son who is getting ready to fly the coop. I am trying to deal with my life this way and It seems to help. get into some hobby classes or something you are interested it and go for it.I am a social flower. I am a blooming idiot. Ha Ha Ha. I hope this helps you. It helped me. Sheryl OPEN RNY July 22, 2002 516/453/36o/160

Nancy, May your surgery go well and smoothly with a minimum of discomfort. May your recovery have few or no complications. I'll be in the hospital the same time as you are, my surgery is 12-19.

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful support. I decided to go ahead with a distal RNY and I'm so excited about the surgery and scared at the same time. I've only ever had my tonsils out. Never had a baby or anything else and I've got a low threshold for pain. But, all the pain will be worth it in the long run. I'll keep you updated!!
