Hi Susie - I had the lap band done on august 2003 so please look at my profile. I am so glad that I had this and although the weight loss is a lot slower that other types of WLS, it suits me just fine - please email me if there are any specific questions that i might be able to help you with. by the way, there is a site on yahoo groups called bandsters which can offer a great deal of support. kind regards

Hi Susie. I had the open RNY myself, BUT, my cousin Troy had the lap band in September of last year and he is doing great. He has lost 140# so far and looks and feels great! I know he took it slow at first, but he pretty much eats what he wants now and just takes small bites and is careful to chew chew chew. Anyway, you will do great! Keep your chin up and don't worry about the scales. I know its tempting to get on them all the time, but remember it took a long time to get heavy and it will be a shorter time to take it off! Within a year! You will do great.
