Raymond Capps

"My first impression was that I expected him to be younger. I don't know why. Maybe because he was new to the BTC. I was relieved that he wasn't a baby. As I spoke with him more and more, I became more comfortable with his newness to the procedure. The one thing that he said that put me more at ease than anything else so far is that... this surgery has been being done for 100 years - just not for the treatment of obesity. Duh!! Why didn't I think of that? I knew that people have had stomach surgery for cancer, ulcers, etc. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me that this was really no different from someone who doesn't have a choice. The office staff was fine, except for the front desk. She was pretty vague on things-like most people already know what to do. She was also a little abrupt, like I asked her if they usually put out coffee on the table that had the creamer and sweet 'n low on it. She said, "yes" then she walked away. The entire two hours that I was there, they never put out coffee. Hmmmmm? I can't say that there was anything that I didn't like about Dr. Capps so far. There was not a lot of emphasis on aftercare except to say that it was very important and that I would get into all of that later. The risks were carefully explained, but I never got the feeling that they were a real concern. Dr. Capps seemed to imply that he rarely ran into complications. The one risk that he did stress was blood clots. He told me that it was very important that I move so that blood clots did not occur or I could die. Overall I would rate Dr. Capps completely competent and I am anxious to get going. He seems very personable and I think his bedside manner will be friendly and pleasant."
