Hi Maria, glad to hear everything went well. Wow 17 lbs already. Glad to hear you are doing the walking, that is great. I didn't risk it outdoors when I had my surgery either. I was afraid if I fell in the snow or ice ,I would really hurt myself. Lot's of luck and keep drinking that water. Carin

Hi all! Well, I made it through to the "other side." For a minute there I wasn't sure I'd be able to have the surgery last Monday. We had a blizzard here in Chicago, and there was about six inches of snow on the ground by the time I arrived at the hospital. (And it got worse throughout the day) I was so worried that the surgeon wouldn't be able to get there, but good old Dr. Alverdy was there and everything went off without a hitch. I woke up in recovery, but because of the weather and other things, had to stay there for over six hours until they had a free bed for me. The worst part was having to wait to see my husband until I got up to my room. (Thanks Michael for waiting so patiently during my ordeal!) They did let me talk to him on the phone for a minute, so at least he knew I was OK! Im having a fairly unremarkable recovery, a little pain, difficulty getting all my protein in, etc. The only major deal is the fact that I have to have supplemental (tube) feedings. I may end up with the feeding tube for three weeks! UGH! I really hope not, but I do trust my surgeon, so if he says I need it, well, I need it. Anyway, Thanks to all who sent me get well wishes! This place has the most wonderful people online! the love and support available from the people here is incredible. Thanks again for all the support.

I am not Maria's "official" angel but decided to check up on her and emailed her surgeon. Dr Alverdy said "She is doing great so far. Surgery went extremely well". Way to go Maria!!

MARIA: Just a note to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers, especially on your big day! :) I graduated from University of Chicago - I didn't know that they performed the surgery there! :) You are in good hands, I'm sure. {{{{hugs}}}} All the best,
