"My first impression of Dr. Elariny is that he is wonderful. I have complete confidence in his abilities. He spent several hours explaining the various surgical alternatives, even the ones he does not perform. His staff is outstanding. Shante is always very helpful and answers any questions she can. Dr. Elariny does both open and lap surgeries, and is very involved in his patient's aftercare. He provided me with the tools necessary to make an informed decision about which surgery is best for me. That was very different than my experiences with another local surgeon. He only explained the one proceedure he performed. I didn't get any information about other options.
11/7/00 -Update on my surgeon. I called him on 10/27/00 in terrible pain. After asking me some questions and realizing the pain was getting worse, I told him I wanted to go to the ER (this was a big deal for me because I am not a sickly person). Without missing a beat he said he would call ahead and order all the lab work and then meet me there. He stayed in the ER with me for about 5 hours and explained to the other staff how my new anatomy worked. He even accompnaied me to get an upper GI. I know most of us have a special place in our hearts for our surgeons, but he really went beyond the call of duty and sheparded me through one of the most medically painful episodes of my life. He is a great surgeon and genuinlly cares about his patients."
