LONG POST. Hellllllllllllo all!!!! It's already been quite a journey, and it's just beginning! I am very happy to be on the "other-side", but I have to admit, I wouldn't mind giving up the incision pain, 6 little ones :) Here's my update: Have access to a computer at long last. Stupid laptop didn't work, forgot I had removed the dial-up adapter because it was causing issues with my network connection *bleh* Anyway. My stay at the hospital was almost exactly 2.5 days, I had one bad afternoon, where a nurse stuck a suppository up the wrong hole, and they switched me to darvocet (USELESS) I was in massive pain, very itchy, and miserable, but other than that, it went really smoothly. Oh, yeah, and the fact that they couldn't get an iv in (after 5 tries by nurses, and 2 by the anesthesiologist) they finally decided to put a central line in the jugular in my neck. That way I wouldn't have to worry about the veins blowing, or anything like that, but man, they put that 10cm catheter in while you're awake, and have full sensation... OWWWEEEEEE!!! Other than those two things it's been pretty nice. My back hurts sitting here writing, I'm in a public library in Fresno, and their chairs are not bariatric friendly *lol*. There, I lowered it so at least I don't have to roll my shoulders to type anymore. Let's see, it's Monday, so 7th day of surgery/recovery, I'm walking around, Mom's driving me around, so I must say, I guess things are going pretty well. I met a couple dynamic women in my pre-op session, and then Cathy was one of them, she had surgery at the same hospital, and stayed at the same hotel, but I think she gets to go home today, if her post-op appointment goes well. Headbands have become my best friends. After I had to get CT scans (cat) done on Friday during that really bad afternoon, my arms and shoulders were really sore, because I had to hold my arms above my head for most of an hour. They're still pretty sore and stiff, so doing my hair is not really on my "woo hoo" list. However, sugar free popsicles and fudgesicles are!!! Woo Hoo!!! I seriously cannot tell you how good the simple things in life taste after going liquids only. Chicken broth has become one of my favorite things on the planet. I added fudgesicles to my diet this morning, tried one bite every 5 minutes just to make sure I could tolerate them. Oh it was sooooo good. I guess not having extravagent food all the time is really making me appreciate the more subtle tastes in basic foods. Still kinda crave yummy things when I smell them, wish I could have just one taste, to satisfy the craving, but I know better. *lol* I did ask my mother if I could lick the flavoring left overs out of the bottom of her bag of chips... not left over pieces or anything, just the little bit of powder that accumulates ya know? She'd already eaten it *growl* That's ok though. I've been up and moving around as much as possible, and I'm sure that's helping my recovery. Like every new post-op, every new bad sensation makes me wonder if I've sprung a leak, but after all, the CT scans (all flippin three of them) came back clean. Well, back is really starting to get sore, and I want to check a couple things before I sign off (silly library closes at noon). I'll talk to you all soon, and thanks to everyone for your support. It really means alot to me that the ONLY person to even question my decision was the nurse who asked if I wanted to go through with it when they were putting the central line in... timing!! If I was going to falter in my decision it would have been then, but I didn't. So, hope to see or talk to you all real soon. Love to all Heather
