R. Chad Halversen

"Dr. Halverson is very nice and answered all of my list of questions. I really liked him. He takes as much time with me as I need. He always asks "what questions do you have for me." He made rounds every day while I was at the hospital. I highly recommend him. Pre-Op his office staff was horrible. Every time I called I felt like I was bothering them. They are apparently very busy, and easily annoyed. Post-Op the main receptionist and nurse were both very concerned and nice when I was not feeling well. The nurse called me just to check up on me a couple of times. I have had 3 post-op visits and I think he is great. Dr. Halverson also uses sub-cutaneous sutures on the incision, thereby eliminating the Frankenstein-type scar associated with staples. "

St. Marks Hospital

"If you can, go to Cottonwood. St. Marks has an awful staff. All the nurses seem to do is gab with each other. They never came in to check in on me. I had to constantly page them for everything. They only emptied my "urinal" when I told them to. An ice pack and my leg booties sat on the floor for days after I stopped using them. Very poor quality nursing staff. The whole time I was there I wondered why any of them went in to nursing. One nurse actually attempted to inject my Heprin (sp?) directly in to my IV, until I reminded her that it went in my belly. I had IV troubles the whole time, and none of the nurses would do anything about it except put more tape on it. The rooms are TINY and HOT. I brought my own fan. One good thing: all gastric bypass patients are in the same ward, so the nurses in that ward are very familiar with the procedure and treatment."
