Hi everyone! I'm finally POST-OP as of 3/1/01 and starting to feel back to normal....slowly. Thank-you to everyone with their well wishes and good lucks. And a special thanks to my angel, Char. She earned her halo and wings. Recovery is taking a little longer than expected. I think because I've had two c-sections and the pain felt less with the second than with the first, I was expecting the pain and recovery of this surgery to be a breeze. I was wrong. It's not that the pain isn't manageable, because it is with the right rest and medication. It's just more intense than my c-sections....probably because it's in an entirely different area of the abdominal region, anyway. My parents have been one of the BIGGEST helps to me during all this. They kept my 2 little girls ALL WEEK while I recovered at home. I've missed my two little rugrats so much and they're coming home tomorrow! Back to the living. The liquid diet has me down a little. I am trying very, hard to get use to that. As I learned....some things just aren't meant to be liquidfied :{ I can't wait till I can start actually chewing food. Well even though I should wait, I have stepped on the scale and if it coincides with the dr.'s scale (which it does) I've lost 15 lbs. since the 1st! :} I'll post again after my visit on the 20th with the doc. Good Luck to all pre-ops and congrats to the post-ops!!!!!

Gina's lap RNY surgery started at 7:30 AM; she was still being held in the recovery room after 3:30 PM (!) simply because the hospital is so crowded. I just spoke with her a little while ago, and she said the doctor confirmed everything went without a hitch. Gina was very groggy from morphine and anesthesia, but has already had a walk around the floor and even used the bathroom. As for pain...well, she described it as kind of like a muscle cramp from working out, only worse. She also went from groggy to perky to falling asleep during our brief conversation. I'll update everyone after I speak with her in the morning, when I know she'll be feeling more like herself. Thanks from Gina for all your thoughts and prayers!

Hello All!!! About 38hrs. to go! I feel like there's so much to do in such little time. Where did the last 2 months go?!? My pre-op exam yesterday really made me realize how big of a step this is. (not that I didn't know this before, but reality really hit). I'm nervous, scared, anxious, and excited all at once as I am sure most of you post-ops can relate to. I have my dear, sweet angel, Char to give updates. The surgery will be at 7:30 in the morning on Thursday in Mpls.,MN. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I consider everyone here at AMOS to be angels. Thank-you for all the love and support given.

GET READY, GINA BABY! ONLY A FEW MORE DAYS TO GO UNTIL YOUR BIG DAY--AND I'M COMING UP RIGHT BEHIND YOU!! My surgery buddy (and angel) Gina Leske-Fleming is scheduled for surgery this coming Thursday, 3/1, with Dr. Raymond Drew in Minneapolis. If you get a chance, please stop by her surgery page to offer your support. Gina's got two beautiful little girls, a supportive family, and an absolutely kick-ass attitude about surgery! With all that in your corner, how can you go wrong? <<<<<HUGS>>>> from your angel, Char.
