Jan, I had my open rny 4/22/02. I know exactly what you are feeling. At my 3 week check up I had lost 18 pounds, but 3 days earlier I had lost 21 so I gained back 3 pounds. I was very upset and discouraged. I talked to my doctor and he was very encouraging. I, like you, wonder sometimes if this is really going to work. I had a good friend come by my office yesterday and I voiced the same concerns to her. She had it done 10 years ago and stopped to bring me her before picture. I was shocked. As we were talking she told me that wether I lose weight or not was up to me. That this was not a miracle cure but a miracle TOOL, my success was up to me, if I wanted to lose weight I would if I didn't think I would than I wouldn't. As I thought about it I realized that my mind set did have a lot to do with it. When I am positive, positive things happen and vice versa. I don't know if this helps, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. You have done great, and you know you can continue to succeed. Don't quit and give up just for a taste of junk food. Keep looking to all those things you wanted that was your reason for getting the surgery in the first place. You can do it!! Shelly Duke
