Well, Lisa is still hanging in there. Sunday and Monday were very rough--she was getting nauseated from the Morphine and was switched, I believe, to toradol and demerol (sp?). I think they are pretty worthless since she is feeling back pain through them, so I can't image they are doing much for her tummy. After 36 hours of intense nausea, Lisa eventually vomited Monday and it was all sputum & mucus. The doctor determined that the place where her new stomach & intestine are sewn together is swollen shut, so nothing can go down. It's just all backing up until it's full, and then she pukes it up. She was put back on the I.V. and strict NPO (not even ice chips). She vomited several times which really hurt the incision site. I spoke to her today around 1pm and she was just starting to try liquids again. She also got to take a shower today (YEA!!!!). We had lots of fun on Sunday when I accidentally kicked the urine bag and it poured out all over the floor. Good thing it hadn't reached the stinky stage! She has done some walking, too. Since Lisa is Eyeore, we knew something would go wrong. She is being very brave and we are proud of her.

Hello everyone! Lisa's surgery was this morning (at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio). There were no complications...everything went like clockwork. She is now in her private room and awake, talking, eating ice chips and getting her legs massaged with pneumatic "pantyhose"--as the nurse called them. Her stomach is sore, but tolerable. She says that compared to what she thought she would feel after the surgery, this is a breeze. Of course she is on the morphine pump. Everyone at the hospital has been very helpful and friendly. And the spaghetti lunch was $0.99!! Wow. Lisa is in great spirits and says hello to everyone. ----Her friend Wendy.

Lisa, I'm so glad you got your surgery date moved up. I felt guilty when mine did and you had to wait. But your day is here now and you will be amzed at the immediate benefits. I will be thinking of you. May your surgeon have an angel on his shoulder to keep his hands steady and sure and keep you safe. I know you'll be fine.
