Today is 25Dec - and a great present for me because I had a very successful just about pain free lap rny 20Dec - walked the same day - discharged Sat Dec 22. No morphine - toradol and other drugs - not even a pain on awakening - just the first couple of "getting out of bed". For you oldies---I walked te first day and am almost 67 yrs old! I have had apnea 6 yrs and COPD - lung and low oxygen problems - never had surgery before - and wondered if I would make it. Should have trusted my surgeon more - Dr. James Swain at Mayo Hospital in Scottsdale AZ - AND the wonderful treatment the ENTIRE time. Even the beds are super and no waiting for an answer to that call button. The drink test was nothing. I had five incisions and one drain - which was in 48hrs. Big bruise right side - no pain. Had ovaries out by another surgeon the same time. Precautionary - against ovarian cancer- if you no longer will have babies good idea. Happy Holidays to you - Amos has been with me since May 2001 - a very good friend through all of this. Hope tis has been of interest to pre ops and thanks again to post ops. Charlene Mai

Just got off the phone with Charlene Mai...She is doing great!!! She is SO THRILLED. Little pain, nothing to speak of. She has been walking and will be going HOME TOMORROW!!! She told me to tell you all that she KNOWS THIS IS A GOOD ONE!!She is sure it will be a sucess cause she feels so good. Her leak test was not bad at all and everything else is fine. She did have her lap RNY and sounded SO VEERRY HAPPY! Will speak to her again on Sunday and will post then.She sends her love to her AMOS family and all her fellow club members on The Oldies of WLS. I am so glad to be her angel. She is a wonderful, funny and caring gal.....{{{{Love n Hugs}}}}} Pheebs

Hi All, 2:48 PM EST. Just spoke to the recovery room at the Mayo Clinc in Scottsdale, Arizona. Charlene Mai just got to THE RECOVERY ROOM! No other info available. I will call later this afternoon and post again........Pheebs
