Derrick Martin

"First of all, Dr. Martin is not in Middletown any longer. His office is in MVH at 30 Apple St. Dayton, OH. I haven't met him yet, but I have read very good reviews. I thought he might be my surgeon when I was with another office, so I am pleased to have him now. I am very impressed with his assistant, Anne. I had already been approved for the surgery, but all the other offices I called wanted me to go through the whole dang process again. Anne recognized the time constraints I was under and I had a date within 24 hours. I will update when and if I am able. *nervous grin* After surgery, my opinion changed somewhat. He is a VERY busy surgeon. I am not sure I am getting the aftercare I would had I went with a less busy doctor. He triple and quadruple books his appointments for aftercare and the wait has not been less than an hour as of yet. (6 weeks, 4 appointments). I have waited up to 2 hours and fifteen minutes. One incident disturbs me. I had some nagging pain and called him pretty early on a Thursday evening through his answering service. He did not get back to me until noon the next day and then he sent me to the emergency room to be checked for blood clots. I have not questioned him, but what if it would have been a clot on Thursday?? On the positive side, he did visit each day I was in the hospital and was very good about pain management. Bottom line, in my opinion, he is an excellent surgeon, great at the hospital, and tolerable at aftercare. Just speak your needs loud and clear and don't take no for an answer. "

Sycamore Hospital

"The nursing staff was on the ball, but it was clear they were overworked and would skimp on some care if you allowed it. My husband was offended by a nurse as we left the hospital. He thought he should hear the instructions she had to give me and she shooed him off to get the car with the comment "You're wife will be perfectly able to handle this by herself." We also had a difficult time getting him a cot so that he could stay overnight the first night after surgery, even though I made it clear that his stay was the reason I was paying for a private room. They were fairly responsive to my medical needs and that is what I considered most important."

Terry Carlisle

"Dr. Carlisle didn't just say okee dokee.. he put some thought into his questions AND my answers. I am a therapist myself, so I really appreciated that he wasn't just in it for the fee."

Michael Timpone

"Dr. Timpone has been my PCP for many years. He and I are used to each other and he pulls no punches. He didn't think my insurance would approve this kind of surgery. After I did my research, he jumped right in to do all he could to help. He is a great doctor."

Mary Lou McCormick

"She must do many of these assessments because it was pretty cut and dried. However, I enjoy a no nonsense approach and it worked for me. I am going to consult with her after my surgery, if I get it."
